¹⁶ They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us^(A) and hide us^[a] from the face of him who sits on the throne^(B) and from the wrath of the Lamb! ¹⁷ For the great day^(C) of their^[b] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”^(D)

¹⁰ they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury,^(A) which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.^(B) They will be tormented with burning sulfur^(C) in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.

¹⁹ The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath.^(A)

Seven Angels With Seven Plagues

15 I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign:^(A) seven angels^(B) with the seven last plagues^(C)—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.

⁷ Then one of the four living creatures^(A) gave to the seven angels^(B) seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.^(C)

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath

16 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple^(A) saying to the seven angels,^(B) “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.”^(C)

¹⁹ The great city^(A) split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered^(B) Babylon the Great^(C) and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.^(D)

¹⁵ Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword^(A) with which to strike down^(B) the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”^[a](C) He treads the winepress^(D) of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
