² Immediately I was ^(A)in the ^[a]Spirit; and behold, ^(B)a throne was standing in heaven, and ^(C)someone was sitting on the throne. ³ And He who was sitting was like a ^(D)jasper stone and a ^(E)sardius in appearance; and there was a ^[b](F)rainbow around the throne, like an ^(G)emerald in appearance. ^4 (H)Around the throne were ^(I)twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw ^(J)twenty-four elders ^(K)sitting, clothed in ^(L)white garments, and ^(M)golden crowns on their heads.

The Throne and Worship of the Creator

⁵ Out from the throne *came ^(N)flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were ^(O)seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are ^[c](P)the seven spirits of God; ⁶ and before the throne there was something like a ^(Q)sea of glass, like crystal; and in the ^[d]center and ^(R)around the throne, ^(S)four living creatures ^(T)full of eyes in front and behind. ^7 (U)The first living creature was like a lion, the second creature like a calf, the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. ⁸ And the ^(V)four living creatures, each one of them having ^(W)six wings, are ^(X)full of eyes around and within; and ^(Y)day and night ^[e]they do not cease to say,

⁹ And when the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who ^(AC)sits on the throne, to ^(AD)Him who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰ the ^(AE)twenty-four elders will ^(AF)fall down before Him who ^(AG)sits on the throne, and they will worship ^(AH)Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their ^(AI)crowns before the throne, saying,

The High Priestly Prayer

17 Jesus spoke these things; and ^(A)raising His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; ^(B)glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You, ² just as ^(C)You gave Him authority over all ^[a]mankind, so that ^[b](D)to all whom You have given Him, ^(E)He may give eternal life. ³ And this is eternal life, that they may know You, ^(F)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom ^(G)You have sent. ^4 (H)I glorified You on the earth ^[c](I)by accomplishing the work which You have given Me to do. ⁵ And now You, Father, ^(J)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had ^(K)with You before the world existed.

Disciples’ Future Glory

²² The ^(A)glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; ^23 (B)I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected ^[a]in unity, so that the world may ^[b]know that ^(C)You sent Me, and You ^(D)loved them, just as You loved Me. ²⁴ Father, I desire that ^(E)they also, whom You have given Me, ^(F)be with Me where I am, so that they may see My ^(G)glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before ^(H)the foundation of the world.

³¹ Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or ^(A)whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.
