¹⁵ (“Behold, ^(A)I am coming like a thief! ^(B)Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, ^(C)that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

⁴² Therefore, ^(A)stay awake, for you do not know on what day ^(B)your Lord is coming. ^43 (C)But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night ^(D)the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.

¹⁸ I counsel you ^(A)to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and ^(B)white garments so that you may clothe yourself and ^(C)the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, ^(D)so that you may see.

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then ^(B)the heavens will pass away with a roar, and ^(C)the heavenly bodies^[a] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.^[b]

² For you yourselves are fully aware that ^(A)the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. ³ While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then ^(B)sudden destruction will come upon them ^(C)as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

^3 (A)Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, ^(B)I will come ^(C)like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you. ⁴ Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not ^(D)soiled their garments, and they will walk with me ^(E)in white, for they are ^(F)worthy.

³ if indeed by putting it on^[a] we may not be found naked.

^33 (A)Be on guard, ^(B)keep awake.^[a] For you do not know when the time will come. ^34 (C)It is like a man ^(D)going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants^[b] in charge, ^(E)each with his work, and commands ^(F)the doorkeeper to stay awake. ^35 (G)Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, ^(H)in the evening, or ^(I)at midnight, or ^(J)when the rooster crows,^[c] or ^(K)in the morning— ³⁶ lest ^(L)he come suddenly and ^(M)find you asleep. ³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all: ^(N)Stay awake.”

³¹ Therefore ^(A)be alert, remembering that ^(B)for three years I did not cease night or day ^(C)to admonish every one ^(D)with tears.
