New International Version
6 Out of the temple(A) came the seven angels with the seven plagues.(B) They were dressed in clean, shining linen(C) and wore golden sashes around their chests.(D) 7 Then one of the four living creatures(E) gave to the seven angels(F) seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.(G) 8 And the temple was filled with smoke(H) from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple(I) until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath
3 The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.(P)
“You are just in these judgments,(S) O Holy One,(T)
you who are and who were;(U)
6 for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,(V)
and you have given them blood to drink(W) as they deserve.”
7 And I heard the altar(X) respond:
8 The fourth angel(AA) poured out his bowl on the sun,(AB) and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire.(AC) 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God,(AD) who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent(AE) and glorify him.(AF)
10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast,(AG) and its kingdom was plunged into darkness.(AH) People gnawed their tongues in agony 11 and cursed(AI) the God of heaven(AJ) because of their pains and their sores,(AK) but they refused to repent of what they had done.(AL)
12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates,(AM) and its water was dried up to prepare the way(AN) for the kings from the East.(AO) 13 Then I saw three impure spirits(AP) that looked like frogs;(AQ) they came out of the mouth of the dragon,(AR) out of the mouth of the beast(AS) and out of the mouth of the false prophet.(AT) 14 They are demonic spirits(AU) that perform signs,(AV) and they go out to the kings of the whole world,(AW) to gather them for the battle(AX) on the great day(AY) of God Almighty.
17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,(BF) and out of the temple(BG) came a loud voice(BH) from the throne, saying, “It is done!”(BI) 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder(BJ) and a severe earthquake.(BK) No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth,(BL) so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city(BM) split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered(BN) Babylon the Great(BO) and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.(BP) 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.(BQ) 21 From the sky huge hailstones,(BR) each weighing about a hundred pounds,[a] fell on people. And they cursed God(BS) on account of the plague of hail,(BT) because the plague was so terrible.
