Revelation 14:9-13

New International Version

⁹A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast^(A) and its image^(B) and receives its mark on their forehead^(C) or on their hand, ¹⁰they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury,^(D) which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.^(E) They will be tormented with burning sulfur^(F) in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. ¹¹And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever.^(G) There will be no rest day or night^(H) for those who worship the beast and its image,^(I) or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”^(J) ¹²This calls for patient endurance^(K) on the part of the people of God^(L) who keep his commands^(M) and remain faithful to Jesus.

¹³Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord^(N) from now on.”

“Yes,” says the Spirit,^(O) “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

⁹Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying in a loud voice, “Whoever worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or his hand ¹⁰will drink the wine of God’s wrath, which has been poured undiluted into the cup of his anger. He will be tortured with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the lamb. ¹¹The smoke from their torture goes up forever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”

A Call for Endurance

¹²Here is a call for^[a] the endurance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to their faithfulness in Jesus:

¹³I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this:

How blessed are the dead,
    that is, those who die in the Lord from now on!”
“Yes,” says the Spirit.
    “Let them rest from their labors,
        for their actions follow them.”
