The Lamb and the 144,000 on Mount Zion

14 Then I looked, and behold, (A)the Lamb was standing on (B)Mount Zion, and with Him (C)144,000 who had (D)His name and the (E)name of His Father written (F)on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like (G)the sound of many waters and like the (H)sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of (I)harpists playing on their harps. And they *sang [a](J)a new song before the throne and before the (K)four living creatures and the (L)elders; and (M)no one was able to learn the song except the (N)144,000 who had been (O)purchased from the earth. (P)These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are celibate. These are the ones who (Q)follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been (R)purchased from mankind (S)as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And (T)no lie was found in their mouths; they are (U)blameless.

Vision of the Angel with the Gospel

And I saw another angel flying in (V)midheaven with (W)an eternal gospel to preach to (X)those who [b]live on the earth, and to (Y)every nation, tribe, language, and people; and he said with a loud voice, “(Z)Fear God and (AA)give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who (AB)made the heaven and the earth, and sea and (AC)springs of waters.”

And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “[c](AD)Fallen, fallen is (AE)Babylon the great, she who has (AF)made all the nations drink of the (AG)wine of the [d]passion of her sexual immorality.”

Doom for Worshipers of the Beast

Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone (AH)worships the beast and his (AI)image, and receives a (AJ)mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink of the (AK)wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed [e]in full strength (AL)in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with (AM)fire and [f]brimstone in the presence of the (AN)holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the (AO)smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; (AP)they have no rest day and night, those who (AQ)worship the beast and his (AR)image, and [g]whoever receives the (AS)mark of his name.” 12 Here is (AT)the [h]perseverance of the [i]saints who (AU)keep the commandments of God and [j](AV)their faith in Jesus.

13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write: ‘(AW)Blessed are the dead who (AX)die in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” (AY)says the Spirit, “so that they may (AZ)rest from their labors, for their (BA)deeds follow with them.”

The Harvest

14 Then I looked, and behold, a (BB)white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one (BC)like [k]a son of man, with a golden (BD)crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel (BE)came out of the [l]temple, calling out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “[m](BF)Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the (BG)harvest of the earth [n]is ripe.” 16 Then He who sat on the cloud [o]swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

17 And another angel (BH)came out of the [p]temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, (BI)the one who has power over fire, came out from (BJ)the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “[q](BK)Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters [r]from the vine of the earth, (BL)because her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel [s]swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into (BM)the great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And (BN)the wine press was trampled (BO)outside the city, and (BP)blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, [t]for a distance of [u]1,600 stadia.

God Answers the Prophet

I will (A)stand at my guard post
And station myself on the watchtower;
And I will (B)keep watch to see (C)what He will say to me,
And how I may reply [a]when I am reprimanded.
Then the Lord answered me and said,
(D)Write down the vision
And inscribe it clearly on tablets,
So that one who [b]reads it may run.
For the vision is yet for the (E)appointed time;
It [c]hurries toward the goal and it will not [d]fail.
Though it delays, (F)wait for it;
For it will certainly come, it (G)will not delay long.

“Behold, as for the (H)impudent one,
His soul is not right within him;
But the (I)righteous one will live by his [e]faith.
Furthermore, (J)wine betrays an (K)arrogant man,
So that he does not (L)achieve his objective.
He (M)enlarges his appetite like Sheol,
And he is like death, never satisfied.
He also gathers to himself all the nations
And collects to himself all the peoples.

“Will all of these not (N)take up a song of ridicule against him,
Even a saying and insinuations against him
And say, ‘(O)Woe to him who increases what is not his—
For how long—
And makes himself [f]rich with debts!’
Will [g]your creditors not (P)rise up suddenly,
And those who [h]collect from you awaken?
Indeed, you will become plunder for them.
Since you have (Q)looted many nations,
All the rest of the peoples will loot you—
Because of human bloodshed and violence [i]done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.

“Woe to him who makes (R)evil profit for his household,
To (S)put his nest on high,
To be saved from the hand of catastrophe!
10 You have planned a (T)shameful thing for your house
By bringing many peoples to an end;
So you are (U)sinning against yourself.
11 For the (V)stone will cry out from the wall,
And the rafter will answer it from the [j]framework.

12 “Woe to him who (W)builds a city with bloodshed,
And founds a town with [k]violence!
13 Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies
That peoples (X)labor merely for fire,
And nations become weary for nothing?
14 For the earth will be (Y)filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord,
As the waters cover the sea.

15 “Woe to him who makes his neighbor drink;
[l]To you who mix in your venom even to make your neighbors drunk,
So as to look at their genitalia!
16 You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor.
(Z)Drink, you yourself, and [m]expose your own foreskin!
The (AA)cup in the Lords right hand will come around to you,
And (AB)utter disgrace will come upon your glory.
17 For the (AC)violence [n]done to Lebanon will [o]overwhelm you,
And the devastation of its animals [p]by which you terrified them,
(AD)Because of human bloodshed and (AE)violence [q]done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.

18 “What (AF)benefit is a carved image when its maker has carved it,
Or a cast metal image, a (AG)teacher of falsehood?
For its maker (AH)trusts in his own handiwork
When he fashions speechless idols.
19 Woe to him who (AI)says to a piece of wood, ‘(AJ)Awake!’
To a mute stone, ‘Arise!’
That is your teacher?
Behold, it is overlaid with (AK)gold and silver,
Yet there is (AL)no breath at all inside it.
20 But the (AM)Lord is in His holy temple.
[r]Let all the earth (AN)be silent before Him.”

God’s People Saved

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to [s]Shigionoth.

Lord, I have (AO)heard [t]the report about You, and [u]I was (AP)afraid.
Lord, (AQ)revive (AR)Your work in the midst of the years,
In the midst of the years make it known.
In anger remember [v](AS)mercy.

God comes from (AT)Teman,
And the Holy One from Mount (AU)Paran. Selah
His (AV)splendor covers the heavens,
And the (AW)earth is full of His praise.
His (AX)radiance is like the sunlight;
He has rays flashing from His hand,
And the hiding of His (AY)might is there.
Before Him goes (AZ)plague,
And (BA)plague comes forth [w]after Him.
He stood and caused the earth to shudder;
He looked and (BB)caused the nations to jump.
Yes, the everlasting mountains were shattered,
The ancient hills [x]collapsed.
His paths are (BC)everlasting.
I saw the tents of Cushan under (BD)distress,
The tent curtains of the land of (BE)Midian were trembling.

Did the Lord rage against the (BF)rivers,
Or was Your anger against the rivers,
Or was Your rage against the (BG)sea,
That You (BH)rode on Your horses,
On Your (BI)chariots of salvation?
You removed Your (BJ)bow from its holder,
The arrows of Your word were [y]sworn. Selah
You (BK)divided the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw You and quaked;
The downpour of waters swept by.
The deep (BL)raised its voice,
It lifted high its hands.
11 (BM)Sun and moon stood in their lofty places;
They went away at the (BN)light of Your arrows,
At the radiance of Your flashing spear.
12 In indignation You (BO)marched through the earth;
In anger You [z](BP)trampled the nations.
13 You went forth for the (BQ)salvation of Your people,
For the salvation of Your (BR)anointed.
You smashed the (BS)head of the house of evil
To uncover him from [aa]foot to neck. Selah
14 You pierced with his (BT)own [ab]arrows
The head of his [ac]leaders.
They (BU)stormed in to scatter [ad]us;
Their arrogance was like those
Who (BV)devour the oppressed in secret.
15 You (BW)trampled on the sea with Your horses,
On the (BX)foam of many waters.

16 I heard, and my [ae]inner parts (BY)trembled;
At the sound, my lips quivered.
Decay enters my (BZ)bones,
And in my place I tremble;
Because I [af]must (CA)wait quietly for the day of distress,
[ag]For the (CB)people to arise who will attack us.
17 Even if the (CC)fig tree does not blossom,
And there is no [ah]fruit on the vines,
If the yield of the (CD)olive fails,
And the fields produce no food,
Even if the (CE)flock disappears from the fold,
And there are (CF)no cattle in the stalls,
18 Yet I will (CG)triumph in the Lord,
I will (CH)rejoice in the (CI)God of my salvation.
19 The Lord [ai]God is my (CJ)strength,
And (CK)He has made my feet like deer’s feet,
And has me walk on my (CL)high places.

For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.

Day of Judgment on Judah

The word of the Lord which came to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of (A)Josiah son of (B)Amon, king of Judah:

“I will completely (C)remove all things
From the face of the [a]earth,” declares the Lord.
“I will remove (D)human and animal life;
I will remove the (E)birds of the sky
And the fish of the sea,
And the [b](F)ruins along with the wicked;
And I will eliminate mankind from the face of the [c]earth,” declares the Lord.
“So I will (G)stretch out My hand against Judah
And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And I will (H)eliminate the remnant of Baal from this place,
And the names of the (I)idolatrous priests along with the other priests.
And those who bow down on the (J)housetops to the heavenly [d]lights,
And those who bow down and (K)swear to the Lord, but also swear by [e](L)Milcom,
And those who have (M)turned back from following the Lord,
And those who have (N)not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him.”

[f](O)Be silent before the Lord [g]God!
For the (P)day of the Lord is near,
Because the Lord has prepared a (Q)sacrifice,
He has (R)consecrated His guests.
“Then it will come about on the day of the Lords sacrifice
That I will (S)punish the princes, the king’s sons,
And all who clothe themselves with (T)foreign garments.
And on that day I will punish all who leap on the temple threshold,
Who fill the house of their [h]lord with (U)violence and deceit.
10 And on that day,” declares the Lord,
“There will be the sound of a cry from the (V)Fish Gate,
Wailing from the [i](W)Second Quarter,
And a loud crash from the (X)hills.
11 Wail, you inhabitants of the [j]Mortar,
Because all the [k]people of (Y)Canaan will be destroyed;
All who weigh out (Z)silver will be eliminated.
12 And it will come about at that time
That I will (AA)search Jerusalem with lamps,
And I will punish the people
Who are [l](AB)stagnant in spirit,
Who say in their hearts,
‘The Lord will (AC)not do good nor harm!’
13 Their wealth will become (AD)plunder,
And their houses desolate;
Yes, (AE)they will build houses but not inhabit them,
And plant vineyards but not drink their wine.”

14 The (AF)great (AG)day of the Lord is near,
Near and coming very quickly;
Listen, the day of the Lord!
[m]In it the warrior (AH)cries out bitterly.
15 That day is a day of anger,
A day of (AI)trouble and distress,
A day of destruction and desolation,
A day of (AJ)darkness and gloom,
A day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 A day of (AK)trumpet and battle cry
Against the (AL)fortified cities
And the high corner towers.
17 I will bring (AM)distress on mankind
So that they will walk (AN)like those who are blind,
Because they have sinned against the Lord;
And their (AO)blood will be poured out like dust,
And their (AP)flesh like dung.
18 Neither their (AQ)silver nor their gold
Will be able to save them
On the day of the Lords anger;
And (AR)all the earth will be devoured
By the fire of His jealousy,
For He will (AS)make a complete end,
Indeed a horrifying one,
Of all the inhabitants of the earth.
