11 Then was given to me a reed, like a rod. And the angel stood by, saying, “Rise and measure the Temple of God, and the altar, and those who worship therein.

“But do not include the court which is outside the Temple. For it is given to the Gentiles. And they shall tread upon the holy city for 42 months.

“But I will give power to my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy 1260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

These are two olive trees, and two candlesticks, standing before the God of the earth.

And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouths and devours their enemies. For if anyone would hurt them, thus must he be killed.

These have power to shut Heaven, so that it does not rain in the days of their prophesying; and have power over waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with all kinds of plagues, as often as they will.

And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them and kill them,

And their corpses shall lie in the streets of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt (where our Lord was also crucified).

And those of the people and tribes and tongues, and Gentiles, shall see their corpses for three and a half days, and shall not allow their carcasses to be put in graves.

10 And those who dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and be glad and shall send gifts to one another. For these two Prophets tormented those who dwelt on the earth.

11 But after three and a half days, the Spirit of Life, coming from God, shall enter into them. And they shall stand up upon their feet. And great fear shall come upon those who saw them.

12 And they shall hear a great voice from Heaven, saying to them, “Come up here!” And they shall ascend to Heaven in a cloud. And their enemies shall see them.
