¹⁰ The inhabitants of the earth^(A) will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts,^(B) because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

¹⁷ When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler^(A) of Israel?”

⁵ If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies.^(A) This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.^{(B) 6} They have power to shut up the heavens^(C) so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying;^(D) and they have power to turn the waters into blood^(E) and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but it hates me^(A) because I testify that its works are evil.^(B)

²² You will be hated by everyone because of me,^(A) but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.^(B)

Israel Will Rise

⁸ The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate^(A) him because he never prophesies anything good^(B) about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”

“The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.
