¹⁰ and ^(A)those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and ^(B)exchange presents, because these two prophets ^(C)had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.

¹⁷ When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, ^(A)“Is it you, you ^(B)troubler of Israel?”

⁵ And if anyone would harm them, ^(A)fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, ^(B)this is how he is doomed to be killed. ⁶ They have the power ^(C)to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and ^(D)to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.

^10 (A)Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try ^(B)those who dwell on the earth.

The Stoning of Stephen

⁵⁴ Now when they heard these things ^(A)they were enraged, and they ^(B)ground their teeth at him. ⁵⁵ But he, ^(C)full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw ^(D)the glory of God, and Jesus standing ^(E)at the right hand of God. ⁵⁶ And he said, “Behold, I see ^(F)the heavens opened, and ^(G)the Son of Man standing ^(H)at the right hand of God.” ⁵⁷ But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together^[a] at him.

³³ When they heard this, they ^(A)were enraged and wanted to kill them.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but ^(A)it hates me because I testify about it that ^(B)its works are evil.

^22 (A)and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. ^(B)But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
