Revelation 10
Living Bible
10 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head; his face shone like the sun and his feet flashed with fire. 2 And he held open in his hand a small scroll. He set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the earth 3 and gave a great shout—it was like the roar of a lion—and the seven thunders crashed their reply.
4 I was about to write what the thunders said when a voice from heaven called to me, “Don’t do it. Their words are not to be revealed.”
5 Then the mighty angel standing on the sea and land lifted his right hand to heaven 6 and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and everything in it and the earth and all that it contains and the sea and its inhabitants, that there should be no more delay, 7 but that when the seventh angel blew his trumpet, then God’s veiled plan—mysterious through the ages ever since it was announced by his servants the prophets—would be fulfilled.
8 Then the voice from heaven spoke to me again, “Go and get the unrolled scroll from the mighty angel standing there upon the sea and land.”
9 So I approached him and asked him to give me the scroll. “Yes, take it and eat it,” he said. “At first it will taste like honey, but when you swallow it, it will make your stomach sour!” 10 So I took it from his hand, and ate it! And just as he had said, it was sweet in my mouth, but it gave me a stomachache when I swallowed it.
11 Then he told me, “You must prophesy further about many peoples, nations, tribes, and kings.”

The Angel and the Little Scroll
10 Then I saw another (A)strong angel (B)coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the (C)rainbow was upon his head, and (D)his face was like the sun, and his (E)feet like pillars of fire; 2 and he had in his hand a (F)little scroll which was open. He placed (G)his right foot on the sea and his left on the earth, 3 and he cried out with a loud voice, (H)as when a lion roars. And when he had cried out, the (I)seven peals of thunder [a]uttered their voices. 4 And when the seven peals of thunder had spoken, (J)I was about to write; and I (K)heard a voice from heaven saying, “(L)Seal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken and do not write them.” 5 Then the angel, whom I saw standing on the sea and on the earth, (M)lifted up his right hand to heaven, 6 (N)and swore by (O)Him who lives forever and ever, (P)who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that (Q)there will be delay no longer, 7 but in the days of the voice of the (R)seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then (S)the mystery of God is finished, as He proclaimed good news to His slaves, the prophets.
8 Then (T)the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take (U)the scroll which is open in the hand of the angel who (V)stands on the sea and on the earth.” 9 So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little scroll. And he *said to me, “(W)Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” 10 And I took the little scroll out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. 11 And (X)they *said to me, “You must (Y)prophesy again about (Z)many peoples and nations and tongues and (AA)kings.”

The Mighty Angel and the Small Scroll
10 Then I saw another mighty angel(A) coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow(B) over his head.[a] His face was like the sun, his legs[b] were like pillars of fire,(C) 2 and he held a little scroll opened in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea, his left on the land, 3 and he called out with a loud voice like a roaring lion. When he cried out, the seven thunders raised their voices. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders said,(D) and do not write it down!”
5 Then the angel that I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 He swore by the one who lives forever and ever,(E) who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, “There will no longer be a delay, 7 but in the days when the seventh angel(F) will blow his trumpet, then the mystery of God(G) will be completed, as he announced to his servants the prophets.”(H)
8 Then the voice that I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take and eat it; it will be bitter in your stomach, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”(I)
10 Then I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I ate it, my stomach became bitter.(J) 11 And they said to me, “You must prophesy again about[c] many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”(K)
