“I am (A)the Alpha and the Omega,” says the (B)Lord God, (C)who is and who was and who [a]is to come, the Almighty.”

The Patmos Vision

(D)I, John, your (E)brother and (F)fellow participant in the tribulation and (G)kingdom and [b](H)perseverance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos (I)because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was (J)in the [c]Spirit on (K)the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice (L)like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, “(M)Write [d]on a scroll what you see, and send it to the (N)seven churches: to (O)Ephesus, (P)Smyrna, (Q)Pergamum, (R)Thyatira, (S)Sardis, (T)Philadelphia, and (U)Laodicea.”

12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And after turning I saw (V)seven golden lampstands; 13 and (W)in the middle of the lampstands I saw one (X)like [e]a son of man, (Y)clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and (Z)wrapped around the chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His (AA)hair were white like white wool, like snow; and (AB)His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His (AC)feet were like [f]burnished bronze when it has been heated to a glow in a furnace, and His (AD)voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held (AE)seven stars, and out of His mouth came a (AF)sharp two-edged sword; and His (AG)face was like (AH)the sun [g]shining in its strength.

17 When I saw Him, I (AI)fell at His feet like a dead man. And He (AJ)placed His right hand on me, saying, (AK)Do not be afraid; (AL)I am the first and the last, 18 and the (AM)living One; and I [h](AN)was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have (AO)the keys of death and of Hades.
