The Second Seal: War
3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the (A)second living creature saying, “Come[a]!” 4 And another, (B)a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to (C)take peace from the earth, and that people would kill one another; and a large sword was given to him.
The Third Seal: Famine
5 When He broke the third seal, I heard the (D)third living creature saying, “Come[b]!” I looked, and behold, a (E)black horse, and the one who sat on it had a (F)pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard something like a voice in the center of the (G)four living creatures saying, “A [c]quart of wheat for a [d]denarius, and three [e]quarts of barley for a [f]denarius; and (H)do not damage the oil and the wine.”
The Fourth Seal: Death
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the (I)fourth living creature saying, “Come[g]!” 8 I looked, and behold, [h]an (J)ashen horse; and the one who sat on it had the name (K)Death, and (L)Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, (M)to kill with sword, and famine, and [i]plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.
The Fifth Seal: Martyrs
9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw (N)underneath the (O)altar the (P)souls of those who had been killed (Q)because of the word of God, and because of the (R)testimony which they had maintained; 10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “(S)How long, O [j](T)Lord, (U)holy and true, [k]will You refrain from (V)judging and avenging our blood on (W)those who live on the earth?” 11 And a (X)white robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to (Y)rest for a little while longer, (Z)until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was (AA)completed also.

3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature(A) say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one.(B) Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth(C) and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.
5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature(D) say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse!(E) Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures,(F) saying, “Two pounds[a] of wheat for a day’s wages,[b] and six pounds[c] of barley for a day’s wages,[d](G) and do not damage(H) the oil and the wine!”
7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature(I) say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse!(J) Its rider was named Death, and Hades(K) was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(L)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under(M) the altar(N) the souls of those who had been slain(O) because of the word of God(P) and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long,(Q) Sovereign Lord,(R) holy and true,(S) until you judge the inhabitants of the earth(T) and avenge our blood?”(U) 11 Then each of them was given a white robe,(V) and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been.(W)
