Worthy Is the Lamb

Now when He had taken the scroll, (A)the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the (B)prayers of the saints. And (C)they sang a new song, saying:

(D)“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And (E)have redeemed us to God (F)by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made [a]us (G)kings[b] and (H)priests to our God;
And [c]we shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And (I)every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

(J)“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him (K)who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and [d]ever!”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the [e]twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped [f]Him who lives forever and ever.

First Seal: The Conqueror

Now (L)I saw when the Lamb opened one of the [g]seals; and I heard (M)one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” And I looked, and behold, (N)a white horse. (O)He who sat on it had a bow; (P)and a crown was given to him, and he went out (Q)conquering and to conquer.

Second Seal: Conflict on Earth

When He opened the second seal, (R)I heard the second living creature saying, “Come [h]and see.” (S)Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to (T)take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.

Third Seal: Scarcity on Earth

When He opened the third seal, (U)I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, (V)a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of (W)scales[i] in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A [j]quart of wheat for a [k]denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and (X)do not harm the oil and the wine.”
