The New Jerusalem

Then came (A)one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of (B)the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you (C)the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And (D)he carried me away in the Spirit to (E)a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 (F)having the glory of God, (G)its radiance (H)like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall, (I)with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve (J)foundations, and (K)on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues(A) came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride,(B) the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away(C) in the Spirit(D) to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.(E) 11 It shone with the glory of God,(F) and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper,(G) clear as crystal.(H) 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates,(I) and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.(J) 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations,(K) and on them were the names of the twelve apostles(L) of the Lamb.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and (A)the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

22 And (B)I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city (C)has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for (D)the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light (E)will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth (F)will bring their glory into it, 25 and (G)its gates will never be shut by day—and (H)there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But (I)nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's (J)book of life.

21 The twelve gates(A) were twelve pearls,(B) each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.(C)

22 I did not see a temple(D) in the city, because the Lord God Almighty(E) and the Lamb(F) are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God(G) gives it light,(H) and the Lamb(I) is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.(J) 25 On no day will its gates(K) ever be shut,(L) for there will be no night there.(M) 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.(N) 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful,(O) but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.(P)
