The Rejoicing in Heaven
19 After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power to our God,
2 for his judgments are true and just;
he has judged the great whore
who corrupted the earth with her fornication,
and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”[a]
3 Once more they said,
“Hallelujah!
The smoke goes up from her forever and ever.”
4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying,
“Amen. Hallelujah!”
5 And from the throne came a voice saying,
“Praise our God,
all you his servants,[b]
and all who fear him,
small and great.”
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready;
8 to her it has been granted to be clothed
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
9 And the angel said[c] to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” 10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant[d] with you and your comrades[e] who hold the testimony of Jesus.[f] Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus[g] is the spirit of prophecy.”
The Rider on the White Horse
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems; and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in[h] blood, and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, wearing fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule[i] them with a rod of iron; he will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”
The Beast and Its Armies Defeated
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly in midheaven, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, 18 to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and their riders—flesh of all, both free and slave, both small and great.” 19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against the rider on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed in its presence the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were killed by the sword of the rider on the horse, the sword that came from his mouth; and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

19 (A)Dopo queste cose, udii nel cielo una gran voce come[a] di una folla immensa, che diceva: «Alleluia[b]! La salvezza, la gloria e la potenza[c] appartengono al nostro Dio[d], 2 perché veritieri e giusti sono i suoi giudizi. Egli ha giudicato la grande prostituta che corrompeva la terra con la sua prostituzione e ha vendicato il sangue dei suoi servi, chiedendone conto alla mano di lei[e]». 3 E dissero una seconda volta: «Alleluia! Il suo fumo sale per i secoli dei secoli[f]».
4 Allora i ventiquattro anziani e le quattro creature viventi si prostrarono e adorarono Dio che siede sul trono, dicendo: «Amen! Alleluia!»
5 Dal trono venne una voce che diceva: «Lodate il nostro Dio, voi tutti suoi servitori[g], voi che lo temete, piccoli e grandi».
6 Poi udii come la voce di una gran folla e come il fragore di grandi acque e come il rombo di forti tuoni, che diceva: «Alleluia! Perché il Signore, {nostro}[h] Dio, l’Onnipotente, ha stabilito il suo regno. 7 Rallegriamoci ed esultiamo e diamo a lui la gloria, perché sono giunte le nozze dell’Agnello e la sua sposa si è preparata. 8 Le è stato dato di vestirsi di lino fino, risplendente e puro; poiché il lino fino sono le opere giuste dei santi».
9 E l’angelo mi disse: «Scrivi: “Beati quelli che sono invitati alla cena delle nozze dell’Agnello”». Poi aggiunse: «Queste sono le parole veritiere di Dio». 10 Io mi prostrai ai suoi piedi per adorarlo. Ma egli mi disse: «Guàrdati dal farlo. Io sono un servo come te e come i tuoi fratelli che custodiscono la testimonianza di Gesù: adora Dio! Perché la testimonianza di Gesù è lo spirito della profezia».

11 (B)Poi vidi il cielo aperto, ed ecco apparire un cavallo bianco. Colui che lo cavalcava si chiama Fedele e Veritiero, perché giudica e combatte con giustizia. 12 I suoi occhi erano {come}[i] fiamma di fuoco, sul suo capo vi erano molti diademi e portava scritto un nome[j] che nessuno conosce fuorché lui. 13 Era vestito di una veste tinta di sangue e il suo nome è «la Parola di Dio». 14 Gli eserciti che sono nel cielo lo seguivano sopra cavalli bianchi, ed erano vestiti di lino fino bianco e puro. 15 Dalla bocca gli usciva una spada affilata[k] per colpire le nazioni; ed egli le governerà con una verga di ferro[l], e pigerà il tino del vino dell’ira ardente del Dio onnipotente. 16 E sulla veste e sulla coscia portava scritto un nome: «Re dei re e Signore dei signori».
17 Poi vidi un angelo che stava in piedi nel sole. Egli gridò a gran voce a tutti gli uccelli che volano in mezzo al cielo: «Venite! Radunatevi per il gran banchetto di Dio[m], 18 per mangiare carne di re, di capitani, di prodi, di cavalli e di cavalieri, di uomini d’ogni sorta, liberi e schiavi, piccoli e grandi[n]».
19 E vidi la bestia e i re della terra e i loro eserciti radunati per far guerra a colui che era sul cavallo e al suo esercito.
20 Ma la bestia fu presa, e con lei fu preso il falso profeta che aveva fatto prodigi[o] davanti a lei, con i quali aveva sedotto quelli che avevano preso il marchio della bestia e quelli che adoravano la sua immagine. Tutti e due furono gettati vivi nello stagno ardente di fuoco e di zolfo. 21 Il rimanente fu ucciso con la spada che usciva dalla bocca di colui che era sul cavallo, e tutti gli uccelli si saziarono delle loro carni.

19 Und nach diesem hörte ich eine laute Stimme einer großen Volksmenge im Himmel, die sprach: Hallelujah![a] Das Heil und die Herrlichkeit und die Ehre und die Macht gehören dem Herrn, unserem Gott!
2 Denn wahrhaftig und gerecht sind seine Gerichte; denn er hat die große Hure gerichtet, welche die Erde verderbte mit ihrer Unzucht, und hat das Blut seiner Knechte von ihrer Hand gefordert!
3 Und nochmals sprachen sie: Hallelujah! Und ihr Rauch steigt auf von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
4 Und die 24 Ältesten und die vier lebendigen Wesen fielen nieder und beteten Gott an, der auf dem Thron saß, und sprachen: Amen! Hallelujah!
5 Und eine Stimme kam aus dem Thron hervor, die sprach: Lobt unseren Gott, alle seine Knechte und die ihr ihn fürchtet, sowohl die Kleinen als auch die Großen!
6 Und ich hörte etwas wie die Stimme einer großen Volksmenge und wie das Rauschen vieler Wasser und wie der Schall starker Donner, die sprachen: Hallelujah! Denn der Herr, Gott, der Allmächtige, hat die Königsherrschaft angetreten!
7 Lasst uns fröhlich sein und jubeln und ihm die Ehre geben! Denn die Hochzeit des Lammes ist gekommen, und seine Frau hat sich bereit gemacht.
8 Und es wurde ihr gegeben, sich in feine Leinwand zu kleiden, rein und glänzend; denn die feine Leinwand ist[b] die Gerechtigkeit der Heiligen.[c]
9 Und er sprach zu mir: Schreibe: Glückselig sind die, welche zum Hochzeitsmahl des Lammes berufen sind! Und er sprach zu mir: Dies sind die wahrhaftigen Worte Gottes!
10 Und ich fiel vor seinen Füßen nieder, um ihn anzubeten. Und er sprach zu mir: Sieh dich vor, tue es nicht! Ich bin dein Mitknecht und der deiner Brüder, die das Zeugnis Jesu haben. Bete Gott an! Denn das Zeugnis Jesu ist der Geist der Weissagung.
Der Herr Jesus Christus als König und Richter
11 Und ich sah den Himmel geöffnet, und siehe, ein weißes Pferd, und der darauf saß, heißt »Der Treue und der Wahrhaftige«; und in Gerechtigkeit richtet und kämpft er.
12 Seine Augen aber sind wie eine Feuerflamme, und auf seinem Haupt sind viele Kronen, und er trägt einen Namen geschrieben, den niemand kennt als nur er selbst.
13 Und er ist bekleidet mit einem Gewand, das in Blut getaucht ist, und sein Name heißt: »Das Wort Gottes«.
14 Und die Heere im Himmel folgten ihm nach auf weißen Pferden, und sie waren bekleidet mit weißer und reiner Leinwand.
15 Und aus seinem Mund geht ein scharfes Schwert hervor, damit er die Heidenvölker mit ihm schlage, und er wird sie mit eisernem Stab weiden; und er tritt die Weinkelter des Grimmes und des Zornes Gottes, des Allmächtigen.
16 Und er trägt an seinem Gewand und an seiner Hüfte den Namen geschrieben: »König der Könige und Herr der Herren«.
Der Sieg über das Tier und den falschen Propheten
17 Und ich sah einen Engel in der Sonne stehen; und er rief mit lauter Stimme und sprach zu allen Vögeln, die inmitten des Himmels fliegen: Kommt und versammelt euch zu dem Mahl des großen Gottes,
18 um das Fleisch der Könige zu verzehren und das Fleisch der Heerführer und das Fleisch der Starken und das Fleisch der Pferde und derer, die darauf sitzen, und das Fleisch aller, der Freien und der Knechte, sowohl der Kleinen als auch der Großen!
19 Und ich sah das Tier und die Könige der Erde und ihre Heere versammelt, um Krieg zu führen mit dem, der auf dem Pferd sitzt, und mit seinem Heer.
20 Und das Tier wurde ergriffen und mit diesem der falsche Prophet, der die Zeichen vor ihm tat, durch welche er die verführte, die das Malzeichen des Tieres annahmen, und die sein Bild anbeteten; die beiden wurden lebendig in den Feuersee geworfen, der mit Schwefel brennt.
21 Und die Übrigen wurden getötet mit dem Schwert dessen, der auf dem Pferd sitzt, das aus seinem Mund hervorgeht, und alle Vögel sättigten sich von ihrem Fleisch.

19 Ezután olyan hangot hallottam, mintha a Mennyben óriási sokaság erős hangon egyszerre kiáltana:
„Halleluja![a]
Istenünké a győzelem, a dicsőség és a hatalom!
2 Igazak és igazságosak ítéletei,
mert elítélte és megbüntette a Nagy Paráznát,
aki megrontotta az egész Földet paráznaságával,
és bosszút állt rajta Isten szolgáinak legyilkolásáért!”
3 És újra kiáltották:
„Halleluja!
A Nagy Parázna égésének füstje
felszáll örökkön-örökké!”
4 Ekkor földre borult a huszonnégy mennyei vezető és a négy mennyei élőlény, és így imádták a trónon ülő Istent:
„Ámen! Halleluja!”
5 Hang hallatszott a trón felől, amely ezt mondta:
„Dicsérjétek Istenünket, ti, akik szolgáljátok őt,
dicsérjétek mind, akik félitek őt,
kicsinyek és hatalmasok!”
6 Nagy sokaság hangját hallottam, amely hatalmas vízesés robajához, vagy mennydörgéshez hasonlított. Ezt kiáltották:
„Halleluja!
Uralkodik Istenünk,
az Örökkévaló, a Mindenható!
7 Örüljünk, ujjongjunk és adjunk dicsőséget neki,

9 Ezután az angyal hozzám fordult: „Írd le: Boldogok és áldottak, akiket meghívtak a Bárány lakodalmába, az ünnepi vacsorára!” Majd hozzátette: „Ezek valóban Isten igaz szavai.”
10 Ekkor én, János, az angyal lába elé borultam, hogy imádjam őt, de ő visszatartott: „Vigyázz, ne tedd, mert én csak szolgatársad vagyok neked is, meg a testvéreidnek is — mindazoknak, akik Jézus tanúságtételét hordozzák. Istent imádd! Mert a Jézus tanúságtétele a prófétálás szelleme.”
A Királyok Királya és Urak Ura
11 Ismét láttam: megnyílt a Menny, és egy fehér ló jelent meg. Lovasának neve „Hűséges és Igaz”, mert igazságosan ítél és harcol. 12 Tekintete, mint a tűz lángja, fején pedig sok koronát visel. Erre a lovasra olyan név van ráírva, amelyet rajta kívül senki sem ismer. 13 Vérbe mártott köpenyt visel, és így nevezik: „Isten Igéje”. 14 Mennyei seregek követik fehér lovakon, tiszta fehér, gyolcsvászon ruhákba öltözve. 15 Az elöl haladó lovas szájából éles kard jön ki, amellyel csapásokat mér a nemzetekre. Vaspálcával uralkodik fölöttük, és ő tapossa majd a szőlőt a Mindenható Isten szörnyű haragjának szőlőtaposó helyén. 16 A lovas derekánál, a köpenyére ez a név volt írva:
királyok királya és urak ura
A nagy csata
17 Azután láttam: egy angyal állt a Napban, és erős hangon ezt kiáltotta az égen magasan szálló valamennyi madárnak: „Gyertek ide, gyűljetek össze Isten nagy lakomájára, 18 és egyétek a királyok, vezérek és hatalmasok testét, egyétek a lovakat és lovasaikat, egyétek mindenféle ember holttestét, szabadokat és rabszolgákat, kicsiket és nagyokat!”
19 Ekkor megláttam a Szörnyeteget és a Föld királyait: hadseregeikkel együtt összegyűltek, hogy harcoljanak a fehér lovon ülő lovas és annak serege ellen. 20 Akkor a Szörnyeteget és vele együtt a Hamis Prófétát is foglyul ejtették. (Ez a Hamis Próféta az, aki csodákat[b] tett a Szörnyeteg érdekében, és ezzel becsapta mindazokat, akik magukra vették a Szörnyeteg jelét, és imádták annak szobrát.) Azután a Szörnyeteget és a Hamis Prófétát elevenen bedobták a tűz-tóba, amelyben kén ég. 21 A többieket pedig a fehér lovon ülő lovas szájából kijövő kard ölte meg. Az elesettek húsából a madarak lakmároztak, ameddig mind jól nem laktak.

car il a condamné
la grande prostituée

par ses débauches,
et il lui a fait rendre compte
du sang des serviteurs de Dieu
répandu par sa main.
3 Une seconde fois, ils dirent :
Alléluia !
Loué soit Dieu !
Car la fumée
de la ville embrasée
s’élève pour l’éternité !

Les noces de l’Agneau et de sa fiancée

notre Dieu tout-puissant,
est entré dans son règne.

8 Et il lui a été donné
de s’habiller
d’un lin pur éclatant.

Les paroles authentiques de Dieu
9 L’ange me dit alors : Ecris : Heureux les invités au festin des noces de l’Agneau.
Et il ajouta : Ce sont là les paroles authentiques de Dieu.
10 Alors je me prosternai à ses pieds pour l’adorer, mais il me dit : Ne fais pas cela ! Je suis ton compagnon de service et celui de tes frères qui sont attachés à la vérité dont Jésus est le témoin. Adore Dieu ! Car le témoignage rendu par Jésus est ce qui inspire la prophétie de ce livre.
L’aboutissement de l’histoire du salut, en sept visions
Première vision : le cavalier sur un cheval blanc
11 Là-dessus, je vis le ciel ouvert et voici, il y avait un cheval blanc. Son cavalier s’appelle « Fidèle et Véritable ». Il juge avec équité, il combat pour la justice. 12 Ses yeux flamboient comme une flamme ardente. Sa tête est couronnée de nombreux diadèmes[b]. Il porte un nom gravé qu’il est seul à connaître. 13 Il est vêtu d’un manteau trempé de sang. Il s’appelle La Parole de Dieu[c]. 14 Les armées célestes, vêtues de lin blanc et pur, le suivent sur des chevaux blancs. 15 De sa bouche sort une épée aiguisée pour frapper les peuples et il les dirigera avec un sceptre de fer[d]. Il va aussi écraser lui-même le raisin dans le pressoir à vin de l’ardente colère du Dieu tout-puissant. 16 Sur son manteau et sur sa cuisse est inscrit un titre : « Roi des rois et Seigneur des seigneurs ».
Deuxième vision : le grand festin des charognards
17 Puis je vis un ange, debout dans le soleil, qui cria d’une voix forte à tous les oiseaux qui volent au zénith dans le ciel : Venez, rassemblez-vous pour le grand festin de Dieu 18 afin de dévorer la chair des rois, des chefs d’armées, des guerriers, la chair des chevaux et de leurs cavaliers, la chair de tous les hommes, libres et esclaves, petits et grands.
Troisième vision : la capture de la bête et du faux prophète
19 Je vis la bête et les rois de la terre. Ils avaient rassemblé leurs armées pour combattre le Cavalier et son armée. 20 La bête fut capturée et, avec elle, le faux prophète qui avait accompli des signes impressionnants pour le compte de la bête. Par ces signes, il avait trompé les hommes qui portaient la marque de la bête et qui avaient adoré son image. Ils furent tous deux jetés vifs dans l’étang ardent de feu et de soufre. 21 Les autres hommes furent tués par l’épée qui sort de la bouche du Cavalier. Et tous les oiseaux se rassasièrent de leur chair.
