¹⁹ Then I saw the beast^(A) and the kings of the earth^(B) and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse^(C) and his army. ²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet^(D) who had performed the signs^(E) on its behalf.^(F) With these signs he had deluded^(G) those who had received the mark of the beast^(H) and worshiped its image.^(I) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake^(J) of burning sulfur.^{(K) 21} The rest were killed with the sword^(L) coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,^(M) and all the birds^(N) gorged themselves on their flesh.

¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them,^(A) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,^(B) where the beast^(C) and the false prophet^(D) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.^(E)

² the sons of God^(A) saw that the daughters^(B) of humans were beautiful,^(C) and they married^(D) any of them they chose. ³ Then the Lord said, “My Spirit^(E) will not contend with^[a] humans forever,^(F) for they are mortal^[b];^(G) their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

⁴ The Nephilim^(H) were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans^(I) and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.^(J)

⁴ For if God did not spare angels when they sinned,^(A) but sent them to hell,^[a] putting them in chains of darkness^[b] to be held for judgment;^(B)

⁶ And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.^(A)
