The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water,(A) and they became blood.(B) Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:

“You are just in these judgments,(C) O Holy One,(D)
    you who are and who were;(E)
for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,(F)
    and you have given them blood to drink(G) as they deserve.”

And I heard the altar(H) respond:

“Yes, Lord God Almighty,(I)
    true and just are your judgments.”(J)

“You are just, O Holy One, who is and who always was,
    because you have sent these judgments.
Since they shed the blood
    of your holy people and your prophets,
you have given them blood to drink.
    It is their just reward.”

And I heard a voice from the altar,[a] saying,

“Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty,
    your judgments are true and just.”
