5 And he was given (A)a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to [a]continue for (B)forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, (C)His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him (D)to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And (E)authority was given him over every [b]tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, (F)whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain (G)from the foundation of the world.
9 (H)If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 (I)He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; (J)he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. (K)Here is the [c]patience and the faith of the saints.

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies(A) and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.(B) 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.(C) 7 It was given power to wage war(D) against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.(E) 8 All inhabitants of the earth(F) will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life,(G) the Lamb(H) who was slain from the creation of the world.[a](I)
9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.(J)
10 “If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed[b] with the sword,
with the sword they will be killed.”[c](K)
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness(L) on the part of God’s people.(M)
