⁹ And the great ^(A)dragon was thrown down, the ^(B)serpent of old who is called the devil and ^(C)Satan, who ^(D)deceives the whole ^[a]world; he was ^(E)thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. ¹⁰ Then I heard ^(F)a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the ^(G)salvation, and the power, and the ^(H)kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the ^(I)accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they ^(J)overcame him because of ^(K)the blood of the Lamb and because of ^(L)the word of their testimony, and they ^(M)did not love their life even ^[b]when faced with death.

Satan Bound

20 Then I saw ^(A)an angel coming down from heaven, holding the ^(B)key of the abyss and a great chain ^[a]in his hand. ² And he took hold of the ^(C)dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and ^(D)bound him for a thousand years; ³ and he threw him into the ^(E)abyss and shut it and ^(F)sealed it over him, so that he would ^(G)not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

Satan Freed and Doomed

⁷ When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be ^(A)released from his prison, ⁸ and will come out to ^(B)deceive the nations which are at the ^(C)four corners of the earth, ^(D)Gog and Magog, to ^(E)gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the ^(F)sand of the ^[a]seashore. ⁹ And they ^(G)came up on the ^[b]broad plain of the earth and surrounded the ^(H)camp of the ^[c]saints and the ^(I)beloved city, and ^(J)fire came down from heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰ And ^(K)the devil who ^(L)deceived them was thrown into the ^(M)lake of fire and ^[d]brimstone, where the ^(N)beast and the ^(O)false prophet are also; and they will be ^(P)tormented day and night forever and ever.
