¹⁵ And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released^(A) to kill a third^(B) of mankind.^(C)

¹⁸ A third^(A) of mankind was killed^(B) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur^(C) that came out of their mouths.

³ And I will appoint my two witnesses,^(A) and they will prophesy for 1,260 days,^(B) clothed in sackcloth.”^(C)

⁷ Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast^(A) that comes up from the Abyss^(B) will attack them,^(C) and overpower and kill them.

⁹ When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under^(A) the altar^(B) the souls of those who had been slain^(C) because of the word of God^(D) and the testimony they had maintained.

¹¹ Then each of them was given a white robe,^(A) and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,^[a] were killed just as they had been.^(B)

² They will put you out of the synagogue;^(A) in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.^(B)

¹² “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.^{(A) 13} Everyone will hate you because of me,^(B) but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.^(C)

¹⁴ “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’^[a](D) standing where it^[b] does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

³⁵ For whoever wants to save their life^[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.^(A)
