⁴ They were commanded ^(A)not to harm ^(B)the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have ^(C)the seal of God on their foreheads.

⁴ and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put ^(A)a mark on the foreheads of the men ^(B)who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

² Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, ³ saying, ^(A)“Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God ^(B)on their foreheads.” ^4 (C)And I heard the number of those who were sealed. ^(D)One hundred and forty-four thousand ^(E)of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:

14 Then I looked, and behold, ^[a]a ^(A)Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him ^(B)one hundred and forty-four thousand, ^[b]having His Father’s name ^(C)written on their foreheads.

First Trumpet: Vegetation Struck

⁷ The first angel sounded: ^(A)And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown ^(B)to the ^[a]earth. And a third ^(C)of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A ^[a]quart of wheat for a ^[b]denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and ^(A)do not harm the oil and the wine.”

^6 (A)Utterly^[a] slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but ^(B)do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and ^(C)begin at My sanctuary.” ^(D)So they began with the elders who were before the ^[b]temple.

^23 (A)For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the ^(B)blood on the ^[a]lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and ^(C)not allow ^(D)the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

^8 (A)Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: ^(B)men of corrupt minds, ^(C)disapproved concerning the faith; ⁹ but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, ^(D)as theirs also was.
