² I looked, and there before me was a white horse!^(A) Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown,^(B) and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.^(C)

³ the third white,^(A) and the fourth dappled—all of them powerful. ⁴ I asked the angel who was speaking to me, “What are these, my lord?”

⁵ The angel answered me, “These are the four spirits^[a](B) of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world.^{(C) 6} The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west,^[b] and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”

⁷ When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth.^(D) And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.

⁸ Then he called to me, “Look, those going toward the north country have given my Spirit^[c] rest^(E) in the land of the north.”^(F)

⁸ During the night I had a vision, and there before me was a man mounted on a red^(A) horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind him were red, brown and white horses.^(B)

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

¹¹ I saw heaven standing open^(A) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider^(B) is called Faithful and True.^(C) With justice he judges and wages war.^{(D) 12} His eyes are like blazing fire,^(E) and on his head are many crowns.^(F) He has a name written on him^(G) that no one knows but he himself.^(H)

Harvesting the Earth and Trampling the Winepress

¹⁴ I looked, and there before me was a white cloud,^(A) and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man^[a](B) with a crown^(C) of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.

³ For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.^{(A) 4} The weapons we fight with^(B) are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power^(C) to demolish strongholds.^{(D) 5} We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,^(E) and we take captive every thought to make it obedient^(F) to Christ.

¹⁵ The seventh angel sounded his trumpet,^(A) and there were loud voices^(B) in heaven, which said:
