³ And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper^(A) and ruby.^(B) A rainbow^(C) that shone like an emerald^(D) encircled the throne.

²⁸ Like the appearance of a rainbow^(A) in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.^(B)

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory^(C) of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown,^(D) and I heard the voice of one speaking.

¹¹ It shone with the glory of God,^(A) and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper,^(B) clear as crystal.^(C)

The Angel and the Little Scroll

10 Then I saw another mighty angel^(A) coming down from heaven.^(B) He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow^(C) above his head; his face was like the sun,^(D) and his legs were like fiery pillars.^(E)

¹³ I have set my rainbow^(A) in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. ¹⁴ Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow^(B) appears in the clouds, ¹⁵ I will remember my covenant^(C) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.^{(D) 16} Whenever the rainbow^(E) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant^(F) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

¹⁹ The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.^(A) The first foundation was jasper,^(B) the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby,^(C) the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.^[a]

²⁶ Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne^(A) of lapis lazuli,^(B) and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.^(C)
