³ Remember, then, what you received and heard; obey it and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.^(A)

⁵ Remember, then, from where you have fallen; repent and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed.^[a](A)

² For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.^(A)

⁴² Keep awake, therefore, for you do not know on what day^[a] your Lord is coming.^{(A) 43} But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.^(B)

⁴ But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness, for that day to surprise you like a thief;^{(A) 5} for you are all children of light and children of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. ⁶ So, then, let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober,^(B)

2 Therefore we must pay greater attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
