⁸ But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars^(A)—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.^(B) This is the second death.”^(C)

⁹ Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?^(A) Do not be deceived:^(B) Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers^(C) nor men who have sex with men^{[a](D) 10} nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers^(E) will inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁵ Outside^(A) are the dogs,^(B) those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

¹⁴ Then death^(A) and Hades^(B) were thrown into the lake of fire.^(C) The lake of fire is the second death.^{(D) 15} Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life^(E) was thrown into the lake of fire.

⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater^(A)—has any inheritance^(B) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.^{[a](C) 6} Let no one deceive you^(D) with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath^(E) comes on those who are disobedient.^(F)

⁴² Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him.^(A) But because of the Pharisees^(B) they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;^{(C) 43} for they loved human praise^(D) more than praise from God.^(E)

²⁰ No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons,^(A) not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.^(B)

²⁶ He replied, “You of little faith,^(A) why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.^(B)
