⁴ Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

¹² And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow ^(A)cold. ^13 (B)But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

² “Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord:

⁴ Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel. ⁵ Thus says the Lord:

¹⁰ For ^(A)God is not unjust to forget ^(B)your work and ^[a]labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ^(C)ministered to the saints, and do minister. ¹¹ And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence ^(D)to the full assurance of hope until the end,

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

God’s Final Judgment and Glory

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

A Brotherly and Orderly Life

⁹ But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for ^(A)you yourselves are taught by God ^(B)to love one another; ¹⁰ and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, ^(C)that you increase more and more;

The Lukewarm Church

¹⁴ “And to the ^[a]angel of the church ^[b]of the Laodiceans write,

^(A)‘These things says the Amen, ^(B)the Faithful and True Witness, ^(C)the Beginning of the creation of God: ^15 (D)“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither ^[c]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. ¹⁷ Because you say, ^(E)‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—

¹³ Brethren, I do not count myself to have ^[a]apprehended; but one thing I do, ^(A)forgetting those things which are behind and ^(B)reaching forward to those things which are ahead, ^14 (C)I press toward the goal for the prize of ^(D)the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

¹⁵ Therefore let us, as many as are ^(E)mature, ^(F)have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, ^(G)God will reveal even this to you. ¹⁶ Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already ^[b]attained, ^(H)let us walk ^(I)by the same ^[c]rule, let us be of the same mind.
