²² Beware, I am throwing her on a bed, and those who commit adultery with her I am throwing into great distress, unless they repent of her doings,

² with whom the kings of the earth have engaged in sexual immorality^[a] and with the wine of whose prostitution the inhabitants of the earth have become drunk.”^(A)

⁵ No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish just as they did.”

³⁷ therefore, I will gather all your lovers with whom you took pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated; I will gather them against you from all around and will uncover your nakedness to them so that they may see all your nakedness.^{(A) 38} I will judge you as women who commit adultery and shed blood are judged and bring blood upon you in wrath and jealousy.^{(B) 39} I will deliver you into their hands, and they shall throw down your platform and break down your lofty places; they shall strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful objects and leave you naked and bare.^{(C) 40} They shall bring up a mob against you, and they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.^{(D) 41} They shall burn your houses and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; I will stop you from prostituting yourself, and you shall also make no more payments.^(E)

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who engaged in sexual immorality^[a] and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning;^(A)

³ It may be that, when the house of Judah hears of all the disasters that I intend to do to them, all of them may turn from their evil ways, so that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.^(A)

³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, all of you according to your ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin.^{[a](A) 31} Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?^{(B) 32} For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Turn, then, and live.^(C)

²⁹ and they shall deal with you in hatred and take away all the fruit of your labor and leave you naked and bare, and the nakedness of your prostitutions shall be exposed. Your lewdness and your prostitutions^(A)
