¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Beware, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.^(A)

Trial and Temptation

¹² Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord^[a] has promised to those who love him.^(A)

²² and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.^(A)

¹⁰ Because you have kept my word of endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.^{(A) 11} I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one takes away your crown.

¹⁶ You will be betrayed even by parents and siblings, by relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.^{(A) 17} You will be hated by all because of my name.^{(B) 18} But not a hair of your head will perish.^{(C) 19} By your endurance you will gain your souls.^(D)

⁴ And when the chief shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades away.^(A)

¹³ and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.^(A)

¹² for our^[a] struggle is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present^[b] darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.^[c](A)

¹³ But the one who endures to the end will be saved.^(A)

⁹ “I know your affliction and your poverty, even though you are rich. I know the slander on the part of those who say that they are Jews and are not but are a synagogue of Satan.^(A)
