²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet^(A) who had performed the signs^(B) on its behalf.^(C) With these signs he had deluded^(D) those who had received the mark of the beast^(E) and worshiped its image.^(F) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake^(G) of burning sulfur.^(H)

¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them,^(A) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,^(B) where the beast^(C) and the false prophet^(D) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.^(E)

⁸ But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars^(A)—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.^(B) This is the second death.”^(C)

¹⁴ Then death^(A) and Hades^(B) were thrown into the lake of fire.^(C) The lake of fire is the second death.^{(D) 15} Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life^(E) was thrown into the lake of fire.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed,^(A) whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth^(B) and destroy by the splendor of his coming.^{(C) 9} The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan^(D) works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders^(E) that serve the lie, ¹⁰ and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.^(F) They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.^{(G) 11} For this reason God sends them^(H) a powerful delusion^(I) so that they will believe the lie^(J)

⁷ “After that, in my vision^(A) at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron^(B) teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled^(C) underfoot whatever was left.^(D) It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.^(E)

⁸ “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little^(F) one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being^(G) and a mouth that spoke boastfully.^(H)

⁹ “As I looked,

¹¹ “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking.^(Q) I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire.^{(R) 12} (The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time.)

¹³ “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,^[a](S) coming^(T) with the clouds of heaven.^(U) He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. ¹⁴ He was given authority,^(V) glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him.^(W) His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom^(X) is one that will never be destroyed.^(Y)

¹⁰ they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury,^(A) which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.^(B) They will be tormented with burning sulfur^(C) in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.

¹² “The ten horns^(A) you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour^(B) will receive authority as kings along with the beast.
