20 And the beast was captured, and with it (A)the false prophet (B)who in its presence[a] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who (C)worshiped its image. These two were (D)thrown alive into the lake of (E)fire that burns with sulfur.

And then (A)the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus (B)will kill with (C)the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by (D)the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan (E)with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for (F)those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore (G)God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe (H)what is false,

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, (A)terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; (B)it devoured and broke in pieces (C)and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and (D)it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and behold, (E)there came up among them another horn, a little one, (F)before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and (G)a mouth speaking great things.

The Ancient of Days Reigns

“As I looked,

(H)thrones were placed,
    and the (I)Ancient of Days took his seat;
(J)his clothing was white as snow,
    and (K)the hair of his head like pure wool;
his throne was fiery flames;
    (L)its wheels were burning fire.
10 (M)A stream of fire issued

(N)a thousand thousands (O)served him,
    (P)and ten thousand times ten thousand (Q)stood before him;
the (R)court sat in judgment,
    and (S)the books were opened.

11 “I looked then because of the sound of (T)the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, (U)the beast was killed, and its body destroyed (V)and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, (W)their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

13 “I saw in the night visions,

and (X)behold, with the clouds of heaven
    there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the (Y)Ancient of Days
    and was presented before him.
14 (Z)And to him was given dominion
    and glory and a kingdom,
that all (AA)peoples, nations, and languages
    should serve him;
(AB)his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
    which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
    that shall not be destroyed.

The Second Beast

11 Then (A)I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence,[a] and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, (B)whose mortal wound was healed. 13 (C)It performs great signs, even (D)making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, 14 and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of[b] the beast (E)it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast (F)that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not (G)worship the image of the beast (H)to be slain. 16 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,[c] (I)to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, (J)the name of the beast or (K)the number of its name. 18 (L)This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number (M)of a man, and his number is 666.[d]

The First Beast

13 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, (A)with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and (B)blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was (C)like a leopard; its feet were like (D)a bear's, and its mouth was like (E)a lion's mouth. And to it (F)the dragon gave his power and (G)his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and (H)the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, (I)“Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”

And the beast was given (J)a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for (K)forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling,[a] that is, those who dwell in heaven. Also it was allowed (L)to make war on the saints and to conquer them.[b] And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all (M)who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in (N)the book of life of (O)the Lamb (P)who was slain.

(H)It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and (I)it shall stand forever, 45 just as (J)you saw that (K)a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that (L)it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold.
