¹⁸ so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,^(A) free and slave,^(B) great and small.”^(C)

¹⁶ It also forced all people, great and small,^(A) rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,^(B)

¹⁸ You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth as if they were rams and lambs, goats and bulls—all of them fattened animals from Bashan.^{(A) 19} At the sacrifice^(B) I am preparing for you, you will eat fat till you are glutted and drink blood till you are drunk. ²⁰ At my table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, mighty men and soldiers of every kind,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.^(C)

¹⁵ Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free,^(A) hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.^(B)

²⁰ I will deliver^(A) into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them.^(B) Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.^(C)

⁷ “‘In this place I will ruin^[a] the plans^(A) of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies,^(B) at the hands of those who want to kill them, and I will give their carcasses^(C) as food^(D) to the birds and the wild animals.

⁴ “They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried^(A) but will be like dung lying on the ground.^(B) They will perish by sword and famine,^(C) and their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.”^(D)

³³ Then the carcasses^(A) of this people will become food^(B) for the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away.^(C)

⁴⁶ This day the Lord will deliver^(A) you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses^(B) of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world^(C) will know that there is a God in Israel.^(D)
