The World Mourns Babylon’s Fall

^9 (A)“The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her ^(B)will weep and lament for her, ^(C)when they see the smoke of her burning,

³ Again they said, “Alleluia! ^(A)Her smoke rises up forever and ever!”

³ For all the nations ^(A)have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, ^(B)and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the ^[a]abundance of her luxury.”

^2 (A)with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and ^(B)the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

^18 (A)and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ^(B)‘What is like this great city?’

^20 (A)“Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you ^[a]holy apostles and prophets, for ^(B)God has avenged you on her!”

^7 (A)In the measure that she glorified herself and lived ^[a]luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as ^(B)queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’

¹¹ And ^(A)the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

¹⁶ Then all the ^(A)princes of the sea will ^(B)come down from their thrones, lay aside their robes, and take off their embroidered garments; they will clothe themselves with trembling; ^(C)they will sit on the ground, ^(D)tremble every moment, and ^(E)be astonished at you. ¹⁷ And they will take up a ^(F)lamentation for you, and say to you:
