Then one of the four living creatures(A) gave to the seven angels(B) seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.(C)

The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land,(A) and ugly, festering sores(B) broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.(C)

The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.(D)

The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water,(E) and they became blood.(F) Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:

“You are just in these judgments,(G) O Holy One,(H)
    you who are and who were;(I)
for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,(J)
    and you have given them blood to drink(K) as they deserve.”

And I heard the altar(L) respond:

“Yes, Lord God Almighty,(M)
    true and just are your judgments.”(N)

The fourth angel(O) poured out his bowl on the sun,(P) and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire.(Q) They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God,(R) who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent(S) and glorify him.(T)

10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast,(U) and its kingdom was plunged into darkness.(V) People gnawed their tongues in agony 11 and cursed(W) the God of heaven(X) because of their pains and their sores,(Y) but they refused to repent of what they had done.(Z)

12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates,(AA) and its water was dried up to prepare the way(AB) for the kings from the East.(AC) 13 Then I saw three impure spirits(AD) that looked like frogs;(AE) they came out of the mouth of the dragon,(AF) out of the mouth of the beast(AG) and out of the mouth of the false prophet.(AH) 14 They are demonic spirits(AI) that perform signs,(AJ) and they go out to the kings of the whole world,(AK) to gather them for the battle(AL) on the great day(AM) of God Almighty.

15 “Look, I come like a thief!(AN) Blessed is the one who stays awake(AO) and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”(AP)

16 Then they gathered the kings together(AQ) to the place that in Hebrew(AR) is called Armageddon.(AS)

17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,(AT) and out of the temple(AU) came a loud voice(AV) from the throne, saying, “It is done!”(AW) 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder(AX) and a severe earthquake.(AY) No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth,(AZ) so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city(BA) split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered(BB) Babylon the Great(BC) and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.(BD) 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.(BE) 21 From the sky huge hailstones,(BF) each weighing about a hundred pounds,[a] fell on people. And they cursed God(BG) on account of the plague of hail,(BH) because the plague was so terrible.

Babylon, the Prostitute on the Beast

17 One of the seven angels(BI) who had the seven bowls(BJ) came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment(BK) of the great prostitute,(BL) who sits by many waters.(BM)

Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass,(A) clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures,(B) and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.(C) The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.(D) Each of the four living creatures(E) had six wings(F) and was covered with eyes all around,(G) even under its wings. Day and night(H) they never stop saying:

“‘Holy, holy, holy

is the Lord God Almighty,’[a](I)

who was, and is, and is to come.”(J)

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne(K) and who lives for ever and ever,(L)
