²⁰ And ^(A)the winepress was trodden ^(B)outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as ^(C)a horse's bridle, for 1,600 stadia.^[a]

¹⁴ And the armies of heaven, ^(A)arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, ^(B)were following him on white horses. ^15 (C)From his mouth comes a sharp sword ^(D)with which to strike down the nations, and ^(E)he will rule^[a] them with a rod of iron. ^(F)He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. ¹⁶ On his robe and on his thigh ^(G)he has a name written, ^(H)King of kings and Lord of lords.

¹⁷ Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to ^(I)all the birds that fly directly overhead, ^(J)“Come, gather for ^(K)the great supper of God, ^18 (L)to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave,^[b] both small and great.” ¹⁹ And I saw ^(M)the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies ^(N)gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was captured, and with it ^(O)the false prophet ^(P)who in its presence^[c] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who ^(Q)worshiped its image. These two were ^(R)thrown alive into the lake of ^(S)fire that burns with sulfur. ²¹ And the rest were slain by the sword ^(T)that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and ^(U)all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

⁸ and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically^[a] is called ^(A)Sodom and ^(B)Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.

¹¹ For ^(A)the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned ^(B)outside the camp. ¹² So Jesus also ^(C)suffered ^(D)outside the gate in order to sanctify the people ^(E)through his own blood.

²⁴ “And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For ^(A)their worm shall not die, ^(B)their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

The Lord's Day of Vengeance

¹⁷ “As for you, ^(A)son of man, thus says the Lord God: ^(B)Speak to ^(C)the birds of every sort and to ^(D)all beasts of the field: ‘Assemble and come, gather from all around to ^(E)the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great sacrificial feast on the mountains of Israel, and you shall eat flesh and drink blood. ^18 (F)You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth—of rams, of lambs, and of he-goats, of bulls, all of them ^(G)fat beasts of Bashan. ¹⁹ And you shall eat fat till you are filled, and drink blood till you are drunk, at the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you. ²⁰ And you shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all kinds of warriors,’ declares the Lord God.

²¹ “And ^(H)I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see ^(I)my judgment that I have executed, and ^(J)my hand that I have laid on them.
