The Lamb and the 144,000

14 Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb,^(A) standing on Mount Zion,^(B) and with him 144,000^(C) who had his name and his Father’s name^(D) written on their foreheads.^(E)

³ “Do not harm^(A) the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads^(B) of the servants of our God.” ⁴ Then I heard the number^(C) of those who were sealed: 144,000^(D) from all the tribes of Israel.

The Great Multitude in White Robes

⁹ After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language,^(E) standing before the throne^(F) and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes^(G) and were holding palm branches in their hands. ¹⁰ And they cried out in a loud voice:

¹¹ All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders^(J) and the four living creatures.^(K) They fell down on their faces^(L) before the throne and worshiped God, ¹² saying:

¹³ Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes^(N)—who are they, and where did they come from?”

¹⁴ I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes^(O) and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.^{(P) 15} Therefore,

⁸ “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.^(A)

²² But you have come to Mount Zion,^(A) to the city^(B) of the living God,^(C) the heavenly Jerusalem.^(D) You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, ²³ to the church of the firstborn,^(E) whose names are written in heaven.^(F) You have come to God, the Judge of all,^(G) to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,^{(H) 24} to Jesus the mediator^(I) of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood^(J) that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.^(K)

⁵ Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion^(A) of the tribe of Judah,^(B) the Root of David,^(C) has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

⁶ Then I saw a Lamb,^(D) looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures^(E) and the elders.^(F) The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes,^(G) which are the seven spirits^[a](H) of God sent out into all the earth. ⁷ He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.^{(I) 8} And when he had taken it, the four living creatures^(J) and the twenty-four elders^(K) fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp^(L) and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers^(M) of God’s people. ⁹ And they sang a new song, saying:^(N)
