The Beast from the Sea

13 Then ^[a]I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw ^(A)a beast rising up out of the sea, ^(B)having ^[b]seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a ^(C)blasphemous name.

³ And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, ^(A)a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

³ So he carried me away in the Spirit ^(A)into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting ^(B)on a scarlet beast which was full of ^(C)names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

²³ “Thus he said:

The Witnesses Killed

⁷ When they ^(A)finish their testimony, ^(B)the beast that ascends ^(C)out of the bottomless pit ^(D)will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.

² Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. ³ And four great beasts ^(A)came up from the sea, each different from the other.

³⁶ “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall ^(A)exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.

⁷ “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, ^(A)a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, ^(B)and it had ten horns. ⁸ I was considering the horns, and ^(C)there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes ^(D)of a man, ^(E)and a mouth speaking ^[a]pompous words.

¹⁶ And the ten horns which you ^[a]saw on the beast, ^(A)these will hate the harlot, make her ^(B)desolate ^(C)and naked, eat her flesh and ^(D)burn her with fire.
