⁸ and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that is prophetically^[a] called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.^(A)

¹⁰ they will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,

²¹ Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,

¹² Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the city gate in order to sanctify the people by his own blood.^(A)

⁵³ I will restore their fortunes, the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and I will restore your own fortunes along with theirs,^{(A) 54} in order that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all that you have done, becoming a consolation to them.^{(B) 55} As for your sisters, Sodom and her daughters shall return to their former state; Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former state, and you and your daughters shall return to your former state.

¹⁸ and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,

⁹ For three and a half days members of the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,

⁷ Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural lust,^[a] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.^(A)

⁶ and if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to destruction^[a] and made them an example of what is coming to the ungodly;^[b]
