⁸ And their dead bodies will lie in the street of ^(A)the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, ^(B)where also ^[a]our Lord was crucified.

¹⁰ standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ^(A)‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! ^(B)For in one hour your judgment has come.’

Finality of Babylon’s Fall

²¹ Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, ^(A)“Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and ^(B)shall not be found anymore.

¹² Therefore Jesus also, that He might ^[a]sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

^53 (A)“When I bring back their captives, the captives of Sodom and her daughters, and the captives of Samaria and her daughters, then I will also bring back ^(B)the captives of your captivity among them, ⁵⁴ that you may bear your own shame and be disgraced by all that you did when ^(C)you comforted them. ⁵⁵ When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters return to their former state, then you and your daughters will return to your former state.

^18 (A)and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ^(B)‘What is like this great city?’

^9 (A)Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations ^[a]will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, ^(B)and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.

⁷ as ^(A)Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the ^[a]vengeance of eternal fire.
