⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness,^(A) the firstborn from the dead^(B) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(C)

To him who loves us and has set us free^[a] from our sins by his blood,^(D)

13 And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea.^(A) It had ten horns and seven heads. On its horns were ten crowns,^[a](B) and on its heads were blasphemous names.^[b](C)

The Beast from the Earth

¹¹ Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb,^[a](A) but it spoke like a dragon.

¹⁸ And the woman you saw is the great city that has royal power over the kings of the earth.”

¹⁹ Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies^(A) gathered together to wage war^(B) against the rider on the horse and against his army.
