¹⁸ I am the Living One; I was dead,^(A) and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!^(B) And I hold the keys of death and Hades.^(C)

⁹ For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead,^(A) he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.^(B)

²⁵ Therefore he is able to save^(A) completely^[a] those who come to God^(B) through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.^(C)

⁸ If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.^{(A) 9} For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life^(B) so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.^(C)

To the Church in Philadelphia

⁷ “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia^(A) write:

²² I will place on his shoulder^(A) the key^(B) to the house of David;^(C) what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.^(D)

¹⁴ Then death^(A) and Hades^(B) were thrown into the lake of fire.^(C) The lake of fire is the second death.^(D)

The Thousand Years

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,^(A) having the key^(B) to the Abyss^(C) and holding in his hand a great chain. ² He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,^(D) and bound him for a thousand years.^(E)
