² I looked, and there was a white horse! Its rider had a bow; a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering and to conquer.^(A)

³ the third chariot white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled gray^[a] horses.^{(A) 4} Then I said to the angel who spoke with me, “What are these, my lord?” ⁵ The angel answered me, “These are the four winds^[b] of heaven going out, after presenting themselves before the Lord of the whole earth.^{(B) 6} The chariot with the black horses goes toward the north country, the white ones go toward the west country,^[c] and the dappled ones go toward the south country.”^{(C) 7} When the steeds came out, they were impatient to get off and patrol the earth. And he said, “Go, patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth. ⁸ Then he cried out to me, “See, those who go toward the north country have set my spirit at rest in the north country.”^(D)

⁸ In the night I saw a man mounted on a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the shadows,^[a] and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.^(A)

The Rider on the White Horse

¹¹ Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and wages war.^{(A) 12} His eyes are like^[a] a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself.^(B)

²¹ To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.^(A)
