25 ¶ Pèp Izrayèl la vin moute tant yo nan Fon Zakasya yo. Lè sa a, mesye yo konmanse lage kò yo nan vagabondaj ak fanm peyi Moab yo.
2 Medam peyi Moab yo menm envite yo nan seremoni ofrann bèt yo t'ap touye pou bondye pa yo. Moun pèp Izrayèl yo ale vre, yo manje epi yo sèvi bondye moun Moab yo.
3 Se konsa pèp Izrayèl la pran sèvi Baal-Peyò. Sa te fè Seyè a ankòlè anpil sou moun pèp Izrayèl yo.
4 Seyè a di Moyiz konsa: -Pran tout chèf pèp la, pann yo gwo midi devan mwen. Konsa, mwen p'ap ankòlè sou yo ankò.
5 Moyiz di chèf ki te reskonsab pèp la: -Se pou nou chak nou touye tout gason nan moun nou yo ki te al sèvi Baal-Peyò.
6 ¶ Lè sa a, antan tout moun yo t'ap kriye sou devan pòt Tant Randevou a, yonn nan gason pèp Izrayèl la ale, li mennen yon fanm peyi Madyan lakay li, devan Moyiz ak tout moun pèp Izrayèl la.
7 Lè Fineas, pitit gason Eleaza a, pitit pitit Arawon, prèt la, wè sa, li leve, li kite moun yo kote yo te reyini an, li pase men l', li pran yon frenn.
8 Li swiv nonm lan ak fanm lan anba tant lan, epi li pèse tou de, ni nonm lan ni fanm lan, ak frenn lan anba ti vant yo. Lamenm, epidemi ki t'ap ravaje pèp la sispann.
9 Te gen vennkatmil (24.000) moun ki te gen tan mouri nan epidemi an.
10 Seyè a pale ak Moyiz, li di l' konsa:
11 -Se Fineas, pitit gason Eleaza a, pitit pitit gason Arawon prèt la, ki te fè m' sispann ankòlè sou pèp la. Paske nan tout moun sa yo, se li menm ki pa t' ka sipòte wè yon moun nan pèp Izrayèl la kite m' pou l' al sèvi yon lòt bondye. Se poutèt sa, atout mwen t'ap fè jalouzi a, mwen pa fin touye tout pèp la nèt.
12 Men sa pou ou di Fineas pou mwen: m'ap siyen yon kontra avè l' ki pou ba li kè poze.
13 M'ap mete li, li menm ak tout ras fanmi l' apre li, pou yo sèvi m' prèt pou tout tan. Paske li te fè m' wè jan li pa t' tolere moun sèvi lòt bondye pase mwen. Se konsa li fè m' padonnen sa pèp la te fè ki mal la.
14 Nonm pèp Izrayèl ki te mouri ansanm ak fanm peyi Madyan an te rele Zimri. Se te pitit gason Salou, chèf nan branch fanmi Simeyon an.
15 Fanm peyi Madyan yo te touye a te rele Kozbi. Se te pitit fi Sou, ki li menm te chèf yon branch nan fanmi moun Madyan yo.
16 ¶ Lè sa a, Seyè a pale ak Moyiz, li di l':
17 -Al atake moun Madyan yo. Bat yo byen bay.
18 Paske se yo menm ki te atake nou anvan ak malefis yo te voye sou nou nan zafè Peyò a, ak nan zafè Kozbi a, pitit fi chèf peyi Madyan an, moun menm ras ak yo a, fanm yo te touye lè epidemi te tonbe sou nou nan peyi Peyò a.

25 І осівся Ізраїль у Шіттімі, і народ зачав ходити на розпусту до моавських дочок,
2 а вони закликали народ до жертов їхнім богам, і народ їв та вклонявся богам їхнім.
3 І Ізраїль приліпився був до пеорського Ваала. І запалав гнів Господній на Ізраїля.
4 І сказав Господь до Мойсея: Візьми всіх голів народу, та й повішай їх для Господа навпроти сонця. І відвернеться палючий Господній гнів від Ізраїля.
5 І сказав Мойсей до Ізраїлевих суддів: Позабивайте кожен мужів своїх, приліплених до пеорського Ваала.
6 Аж ось прийшов один із Ізраїлевих синів, та й привів до братів своїх мідіянітянку на очах Мойсея й на очах усієї громади Ізраїлевих синів, а вони плакали при вході скинії заповіту.
7 І побачив це Пінхас, син Елеазара, сина священика Аарона. І встав він з-посеред громади, і взяв списа в свою руку.
8 І ввійшов він за Ізраїлевим мужем до середини мешкання, та й пробив їх обох ізраїльтянина та ту жінку, аж через її черево. І була стримана поразка Ізраїлевих синів.
9 І померло в поразці двадцять і чотири тисячі.
10 І промовив Господь до Мойсея, говорячи:
11 Пінхас, син Елеазара, сина священика Аарона, відвернув Мою лють від Ізраїлевих синів, коли він запалився горливістю Моєю серед них. І Я не вигубив Ізраїлевих синів у Своїй горливості.
12 Тому скажи: ось Я даю йому свого заповіта: мир.
13 І буде йому та насінню його по нім заповіт вічного священства за те, що він запалився для Бога свого, і очистив Ізраїлевих синів.
14 А ймення забитого Ізраїлевого мужа, що був забитий з тією мідіянітянкою, Зімрі, син Салу, начальник батькового дому Симеона.
15 І ім'я тієї забитої мідіянітської жінки Козбі, дочка Цура, що був головою племен батькового дому в Мідіяні.
16 І Господь промовляв до Мойсея, говорячи:
17 Ненавидіти мідіянітів, і будете їх забивати!
18 Бож вони ненавидять вас у своїх підступах, що зводили вас через Пеора, і через Козбі, дочку мідіянітського начальника, сестру їх, забиту дня поразки за Пеора.

Moab Seduces Israel
25 While Israel was staying in Shittim,(A) the men began to indulge in sexual immorality(B) with Moabite(C) women,(D) 2 who invited them to the sacrifices(E) to their gods.(F) The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to(G) the Baal of Peor.(H) And the Lord’s anger burned against them.
4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders(I) of these people, kill them and expose(J) them in broad daylight before the Lord,(K) so that the Lord’s fierce anger(L) may turn away from Israel.”
5 So Moses said to Israel’s judges, “Each of you must put to death(M) those of your people who have yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor.”(N)
6 Then an Israelite man brought into the camp a Midianite(O) woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping(P) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 7 When Phinehas(Q) son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear(R) in his hand 8 and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped;(S) 9 but those who died in the plague(T) numbered 24,000.(U)
10 The Lord said to Moses, 11 “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites.(V) Since he was as zealous for my honor(W) among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. 12 Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace(X) with him. 13 He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood,(Y) because he was zealous(Z) for the honor(AA) of his God and made atonement(AB) for the Israelites.”(AC)
14 The name of the Israelite who was killed with the Midianite woman(AD) was Zimri son of Salu, the leader of a Simeonite family.(AE) 15 And the name of the Midianite woman who was put to death was Kozbi(AF) daughter of Zur, a tribal chief of a Midianite family.(AG)
16 The Lord said to Moses,(AH) 17 “Treat the Midianites(AI) as enemies(AJ) and kill them.(AK) 18 They treated you as enemies when they deceived you in the Peor incident(AL) involving their sister Kozbi, the daughter of a Midianite leader, the woman who was killed when the plague came as a result of that incident.”
