Viens me sauver
86 Prière de David.
Tends vers moi ton oreille, ╵Eternel, réponds-moi,
car je suis pauvre et affligé.
2 Viens protéger ma vie, ╵car je te suis attaché.
Toi mon Dieu, sauve-moi : ╵je suis ton serviteur, ╵je me confie en toi.
3 O Seigneur, fais-moi grâce !
Je crie vers toi sans cesse.
4 Réjouis ton serviteur,
car c’est vers toi, Seigneur, ╵que je me porte.
5 Car tu es bon, Seigneur, ╵et prompt à pardonner,
riche en amour ╵pour tous ceux qui t’invoquent.
6 Ecoute ma prière, ╵ô Eternel !
Sois attentif ╵à mes supplications !
7 Au jour de ma détresse, ╵c’est vers toi que je crie,
car tu me répondras.
8 Parmi les dieux, Seigneur, ╵nul n’est semblable à toi !
Aucun ne pourrait accomplir ╵des œuvres semblables aux tiennes.
9 Tous les peuples que tu as faits
viendront se prosterner ╵devant toi, ô Seigneur,
et ils te rendront gloire[a].
10 Car tu es grand, ╵et tu accomplis des prodiges !
C’est toi seul qui es Dieu.
11 Enseigne-moi, ô Eternel, ╵la voie que tu veux que je suive,
et je me conduirai ╵selon ta vérité.
Accorde-moi un cœur ╵tel qu’il te craigne sans partage.
12 De tout mon cœur, ╵je te louerai,
Seigneur mon Dieu, ╵je te rendrai ╵gloire à toujours.
13 Car ton amour ╵pour moi est grand,
et toi, tu me délivres ╵du gouffre du séjour des morts.
14 O Dieu, des hommes arrogants ╵se dressent contre moi,
une bande de violents ╵en veulent à ma vie.
Il n’y a pas de place ╵pour toi dans leurs pensées.
15 Mais toi, Seigneur, ╵tu es un Dieu compatissant ╵et disposé à faire grâce ;
toi, tu es lent à la colère, ╵riche en amour fidèle[b].
16 Tourne-toi donc vers moi ╵et fais-moi grâce !
Accorde-moi ta force, ╵à moi qui suis ton serviteur.
Oui, viens sauver ╵le fils de ta servante.
17 Accorde-moi un signe ╵de ta bonté.
Que ceux qui me haïssent ╵le voient et soient couverts de honte !
Car c’est toi, Eternel, ╵qui es mon aide ╵et mon consolateur.

A Prayer for Help against Ruthless Men
A prayer of David.[a]
86 Incline, O Yahweh, your ear and answer me,
because I am poor and needy.
2 Watch over my life because I am faithful.
You are my God; save your servant.
I am the one who trusts you.
3 Be gracious to me, O Lord,
because I call to you all day long.[b]
4 Make glad the soul of your servant,
because I desire you,[c] O Lord.
5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
and abundant in loyal love[d] for all who call to you.
6 Heed, O Yahweh, my prayer,
and attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I call to you,
because you answer me.
8 There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
and there are no works like yours.
9 All the nations that you have made will come
and bow down[e] before you, O Lord,
and glorify your name.
10 For you are great and doing wondrous things;
you alone are God.
11 Teach me, O Yahweh, your way,
that I may walk in your truth.
Unite my heart[f] to fear your name.
12 I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
and glorify your name forever,
13 because your loyal love is great toward me,
and you will have delivered my life from Sheol[g] below.
14 O God, arrogant men have risen up against me,
even a gang of ruthless men seek my life,
but they do not set you before them.[h]
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger[i] and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me.
Give your strength to your servant,
and grant victory to the son[j] of your maidservant.
17 Do a sign that benefits me,
that those who hate me may see and be put to shame,
because you, O Yahweh, have helped me and comforted me.

A prayer of David.
1 Hear me, Lord, and answer(A) me,
for I am poor and needy.
2 Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
save your servant who trusts in you.(B)
You are my God; 3 have mercy(C) on me, Lord,
for I call(D) to you all day long.
4 Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
for I put my trust(E) in you.
5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love(F) to all who call to you.
6 Hear my prayer, Lord;
listen to my cry(G) for mercy.
7 When I am in distress,(H) I call(I) to you,
because you answer(J) me.
8 Among the gods(K) there is none like you,(L) Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
9 All the nations you have made
will come(M) and worship(N) before you, Lord;
they will bring glory(O) to your name.
10 For you are great(P) and do marvelous deeds;(Q)
you alone(R) are God.
11 Teach me your way,(S) Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;(T)
give me an undivided(U) heart,
that I may fear(V) your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;(W)
I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me(X) from the depths,
from the realm of the dead.(Y)
14 Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God;
ruthless people are trying to kill me—
they have no regard for you.(Z)
15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious(AA) God,
slow to anger,(AB) abounding(AC) in love and faithfulness.(AD)
16 Turn to me(AE) and have mercy(AF) on me;
show your strength(AG) in behalf of your servant;
save me, because I serve you
just as my mother did.(AH)
