7 En sång av David, som han sjöng till HERREN för benjaminiten Kus' ords skull.
2 HERRE, min Gud, till dig tager jag min tillflykt; fräls mig från alla mina förföljare och rädda mig,
3 så att de icke, såsom lejon, sönderslita min själ och rycka bort henne utan räddning.
4 HERRE, min Gud, har jag gjort sådant, och är orätt i mina händer,
5 har jag med ont vedergällt ned som höll frid med mig eller plundrat den som var min ovän utan sak,
6 så förfölje fienden min själ och tage henne fatt och trampe mitt liv till jorden och lägge min ära i stoftet. Sela.
7 Stå upp, HERRE, i din vrede, res dig mot mina ovänners raseri och vakna upp till min hjälp, du som har påbjudit dom.
8 Må folkens församling omgiva dig, och må du över den vända åter till höjden.
9 HERREN håller dom över folken; skaffa mig rätt, HERRE, efter min rättfärdighet och ostrafflighet.
10 Låt de ogudaktigas ondska få en ände, men håll den rättfärdige vid makt; ty du, som prövar hjärtan och njurar, är en rättfärdig Gud.
11 Min sköld är i Guds hand; han frälsar de rättsinniga.
12 Gud är en rättfärdig domare och en Gud som dagligen vredgas.
13 Om någon icke vill omvända sig, så vässer han sitt svärd, sin båge spänner han och gör den redo;
14 och han riktar mot honom dödande skott, sina pilar gör han brinnande.
15 Se, denne är i födsloarbete med fördärv, han går havande med olycka, men han föder ett intet.
16 Han gräver en grop och gör den djup, men han faller själv i den grav som han gräver.
17 Den olycka han tänkte vålla vänder tillbaka på hans huvud, och över hans hjässa kommer hans ondska.
18 Jag vill tacka HERREN efter hans rättfärdighet och lovsjunga HERRENS, den Högstes, namn.

Den som gräver en grop ...
1-2 Herre, min Gud, du måste rädda mig från mina förföljare!
3 Låt dem inte få kasta sig över mig som lejon och slita mig i stycken utan att någon räddar mig.
4 Det hade varit en annan sak om jag hade gjort något ont,
5 om jag utan orsak hade stulit från mina ovänner.
6 Då skulle det ha varit rätt av dig att låta mina fiender förgöra mig och trampa mig till marken och lämna mig livlös i smutsen.
7 Herre! Res dig i din vrede mot mina fiender! Vakna och kräv rättvisa av dem.
8-9 Samla alla människor runt omkring dig! Du är den som dömer folken och du dömer deras synder! Upprätta mig inför dem, för du vet att jag är oskyldig.
10 Herre, gör slut på all ondska och välsigna alla som tillber dig, för du är rättfärdig. Du ser rakt in i vårt inre, och du dömer våra tankar och planer.
11 Gud är min sköld, och han kommer att försvara mig. Han räddar dem som lever rätt och ärligt.
12 Gud är en rättvis domare som blir upprörd varje dag över de gudlösa.
13 Om de inte ändrar sig, kommer han att slipa sitt svärd och döda dem.Han har böjt sig ner och spänt sin båge,
14 och med detta dödande vapen avlossar han brinnande pilar.
15 Se hur onda människor hela tiden bara planerar att göra uppror. De tänker ut de mest raffinerade knep, som leder till lögn och bedrägeri.
16 De gräver djupa gropar för andra, men de faller själva i dem.
17 Låt olyckan de planerar för andra komma över dem själva! Ja, låt dem dö!
18 Jag vill tacka Herren, för han är rättvis. Ja, jag vill sjunga lovsånger till Herren, den Högste.
Psalm 7

7 Being falsely accused by Cush one of Saul’s kinsmen, he calleth to God to be his defender, 3 to whom he commendeth his innocence, 9 first showing that his conscience did not accuse him of any evil toward Saul. 10 Next that it touched God’s glory to award sentence against the wicked. 12 And so entering into the consideration of God’s mercies and promise, he waxeth bold, and derideth the vain enterprises of his enemies, 15 threatening that that shall fall on their own neck which they have purposed for others.
[a]Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the Lord, concerning the [b]words of (A)Cush the son of Benjamin.
1 O Lord my God, in thee I put my trust: save me from all that persecute me, and deliver me,
2 Lest [c]he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is none to help.
3 O Lord my God, if I have done [d]this thing, if there be any wickedness in mine hands,
4 [e]If I have rewarded evil unto him that had peace with me, (yea I have delivered him that vexed me without cause.)
5 Then let the enemies persecute my soul, and take it: yea, let him tread my life down upon the earth, and lay mine [f]honor in the dust. Selah.
6 Arise, O Lord, in thy wrath, and lift up thyself against the rage of mine enemies, and awake for me according to the [g]judgment that thou hast appointed.
7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore [h]return on high.
8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge thou me, O Lord, according to my [i]righteousness, and according to mine innocency that is in me.
9 Oh let the malice of the wicked come to an end: but guide thou the just: for the righteous God trieth the [j]hearts and reins.
10 My defense is in God, who preserveth the upright in heart.
11 God judgeth the righteous, and him that contemneth God, [k]every day.
12 Except [l]he turn, he hath whet his sword: he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13 He hath also prepared him deadly weapons: he will ordain his arrows for them that persecute me.
14 (B)Behold, he shall travail with wickedness: for he hath conceived mischief, but he shall bring forth a lie.
15 He hath made a pit, and dug it, and is fallen into the pit that he made.
16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his cruelty shall fall upon his own pate.
17 I will praise the Lord according to his [m]righteousness, and will sing praise to the Name of the Lord most high.
