Psalm 54

Bön om räddning från fiender

1 För sångmästaren, med stränginstrument, en sång av David, 2 när sifiterna kom och sade till Saul: "David håller sig gömd hos oss."

3 Gud, fräls mig genom ditt namn,
    skaffa mig rätt genom din makt.
4 Gud, hör min bön,
    lyssna till orden från min mun.
5 Ty främlingar reser sig upp mot mig,
våldsmän står efter mitt liv.
    De har ej Gud för sina ögon. Sela.

6 Se, Gud är min hjälpare,
    Herren uppehåller min själ.
7 Det onda skall falla tillbaka på mina förföljare,
förgör dem, du som är trofast.
8 Med villigt hjärta vill jag offra till dig,
jag skall prisa ditt namn, Herre,
    ty det är gott.
9 Ur all nöd räddar han mig,
    mitt öga ser mina fienders fall.

For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Isn’t David hiding himself among us?”

54 Save me, God, by your name.
    Vindicate me in your might.
2 Hear my prayer, God.
    Listen to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me.
    Violent men have sought after my soul.
    They haven’t set God before them. Selah.
4 Behold, God is my helper.
    The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.
5 He will repay the evil to my enemies.
    Destroy them in your truth.
6 With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you.
    I will give thanks to your name, Yahweh, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble.
    My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.

Psalm 54[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil[b] of David. When the Ziphites(A) had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?”

1 Save me(B), O God, by your name;(C)
    vindicate me by your might.(D)
2 Hear my prayer, O God;(E)
    listen to the words of my mouth.

3 Arrogant foes are attacking me;(F)
    ruthless people(G) are trying to kill me(H)—
    people without regard for God.[c](I)

4 Surely God is my help;(J)
    the Lord is the one who sustains me.(K)

5 Let evil recoil(L) on those who slander me;
    in your faithfulness(M) destroy them.

6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering(N) to you;
    I will praise(O) your name, Lord, for it is good.(P)
7 You have delivered me(Q) from all my troubles,
    and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.(R)
