Psalm 5
Morgonbön under förföljelse
1 För sångmästaren, till nehilót,[a] en psalm av David.
2 Lyssna till mina ord, Herre!
Ge akt på mina suckar!
3 Hör mig när jag ropar om hjälp,
du min konung och min Gud,
ty till dig ber jag.
4 Herre, om morgonen hör du min röst,
om morgonen vänder jag mig till dig och väntar ivrigt.
5 Du är inte en Gud som älskar ogudaktighet,
den som är ond får ej bo hos dig.
6 De övermodiga består inte inför dina ögon,
du hatar alla ogärningsmän.
7 Du förgör dem som talar lögn,
Herren avskyr de blodtörstiga och falska.
8 Men jag får gå in i ditt hus
genom din stora nåd.
Jag får tillbe i din fruktan,
vänd mot ditt heliga tempel.
9 Herre, led mig genom din rättfärdighet
för mina förföljares skull.
Gör din väg jämn för mig.
10 Ty vad deras mun talar kan ingen lita på,
deras inre är fördärv,
en öppen grav är deras strupe
och sin tunga gör de hal.
11 Förklara dem skyldiga, Gud,
låt deras planer bli deras fall.
Driv bort dem för deras många synders skull,
ty de är upproriska mot dig.
12 Men låt alla som flyr till dig
få glädja sig.
I evighet skall de jubla,
ty du beskyddar dem.
I dig skall de fröjdas
som älskar ditt namn.
13 Ty du, Herre, välsignar den rättfärdige,
du omger honom med nåd som med en sköld.

Gud står på min sida
1-3 Herre, hör min bön, lyssna till mina ord! Du är min Gud och min kung! Jag kommer aldrig att be till någon annan än dig!
4 Varje morgon ser jag upp till dig i himlen och lägger fram mina önskningar inför dig och väntar på ditt svar.
5 Jag vet att du inte står ut med ondskan och att du inte heller tolererar den minsta synd.
6 Därför kan de högfärdiga aldrig komma undan din blick, för du hatar deras onda gärningar.
7 Du utrotar dem som ljuger, och du avskyr mord och falskhet.
8 Men tack vare din barmhärtighet och kärlek får jag komma till ditt tempel. Jag får tillbe dig med fruktan.
9 Herre, led mig, och visa mig att du är på min sida, för annars kommer mina fiender att besegra mig! Säg mig vad jag ska göra och vart jag ska vända mig!
10 Mina fiender talar inte ett enda sant ord. Deras hjärtan är fulla av ondska. Deras förslag leder till synd och död, och de kan säga vad som helst för att nå sina syften.
11 Gud, låt dem stå till svars för allt ont de gör, och låt deras planer falla till marken. De är upproriska mot dig!
12 Men alla de som litar på dig ska glädjas! Låt dem sjunga av glädje, för du försvarar dem! Det är du som ger dem verklig lycka,
13 för du välsignar dem som lyder dig, Herre, och du skyddar dem med din kärleks sköld!

5 David oppressed with the cruelty of his enemies, and fearing greater dangers, calleth to God for succor, showing how requisite it is that God should punish the malice of his adversaries. 7 After, being assured of prosperous success, he conceiveth comfort, 12 concluding, that when God shall deliver him, others also shall be partakers of the same mercies.
To him that excelleth upon [a]Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my words, O Lord: understand my [b]meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my king and my God: for unto thee do I pray.
3 Hear my voice in the morning, O Lord: for in the morning will I direct me unto thee, and I will [c]wait.
4 For thou art not a God that loveth [d]wickedness, neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 [e]The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: for thou hatest all them that work iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak lies: the Lord will abhor the bloody man and deceitful.
7 But I [f]will come into thine house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thine holy Temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness, [g]because of mine enemies: make thy way plain before my face.
9 For no constancy is in their mouth: within they are very corruption: their (A)throat is an open sepulcher, and they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy them, O God, [h]let them [i]fall from their counsels: cast them out for the multitude of their iniquities, because they have rebelled against thee.
11 And [j]let all them that trust in thee, rejoice and triumph forever, and cover thou them: and let them that love thy name, rejoice in thee.
12 For thou Lord, wilt [k]bless the righteous, and with favor [l]wilt compass him, as with a shield.

1 Listen(A) to my words, Lord,
consider my lament.(B)
2 Hear my cry for help,(C)
my King and my God,(D)
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning,(E) Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.(F)
4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, evil people(G) are not welcome.
5 The arrogant(H) cannot stand(I)
in your presence.
You hate(J) all who do wrong;
6 you destroy those who tell lies.(K)
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
you, Lord, detest.
7 But I, by your great love,
can come into your house;
in reverence(L) I bow down(M)
toward your holy temple.(N)
8 Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness(O)
because of my enemies—
make your way straight(P) before me.
9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with malice.
Their throat is an open grave;(Q)
with their tongues they tell lies.(R)
10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,(S)
for they have rebelled(T) against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.(U)
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name(V) may rejoice in you.(W)
