Gemenskap med Herren

Herren är mitt ljus och min frälsning,
för vem skulle jag frukta?
Herren är mitt försvar,
för vem skulle jag vara rädd?
2 När de onda kommer emot mig
och vill uppsluka mig,
mina motståndare och fiender,
då skall de själva stappla och falla.
3 Om en här belägrar mig
fruktar ej mitt hjärta.
Om krig bryter ut mot mig
är jag ändå trygg.
4 Ett har jag begärt av Herren,
det längtar jag efter:
Att få bo i Herrens hus
i alla mitt livs dagar
för att se Herrens ljuvlighet
och betrakta hans tempel.
5 Ty han håller mig gömd i sin hydda på olyckans dag.
Han beskyddar mig i sin boning,
han för mig upp på klippan.
6 Nu kan mitt huvud höja sig
över mina fiender runt omkring mig.
Jag vill offra jublets offer i hans hydda,
jag vill sjunga till Herrens ära och lova honom.
7 Hör, Herre!
Jag höjer min röst och ropar,
var mig nådig och svara mig.
8 Mitt hjärta tänker på ditt ord:
"Sök mitt ansikte!"
Ja, ditt ansikte, Herre, söker jag,
9 dölj inte ditt ansikte för mig.
Driv inte bort din tjänare i vrede,
du som har varit min hjälp.
Släpp mig inte, överge mig inte,
du, min frälsnings Gud.
10 Om än min far och mor överger mig,
tar Herren emot mig.
11 Visa mig, Herre, din väg,
led mig på en jämn stig
för mina förföljares skull.
12 Överlämna mig inte åt mina ovänners illvilja,
ty mot mig uppträder falska vittnen som andas våld.
13 Jag är viss om att få se Herrens godhet
i de levandes land.
14 Hoppas på Herren,
var stark och frimodig i ditt hjärta,
ja, vänta på Herren!

Vänta på Herren
27 Herren är mitt ljus och min frälsning. Vem behöver jag vara rädd för?
2 När onda människor kommer emot mig och anfaller mig ska de snubbla och falla!
3 Ja, även om en väldig armé skulle omringa mig, behöver jag inte känna någon fruktan! Jag är säker på att Gud kommer att rädda mig.
4 Det enda jag vill ha av Gud, det som jag längtar efter mer än något annat, är förmånen att få bo i hans tempel i hela mitt liv. Jag vill känna hans närvaro varje dag och få glädjas över hans fullkomlighet och ära.
5 När svårigheterna kommer tänker jag vara i hans tempel. Där kommer han att gömma mig. Han ska sätta mig på en hög klippa,
6 utom räckhåll för de fiender som omringar mig. Med glädjerop vill jag ge honom mitt offer och jag vill sjunga till hans ära.
7 Lyssna när jag ropar, Herre! Var barmhärtig och sänd mig den hjälp jag behöver!
8 Jag hörde när du sa: Mitt folk, vänd er direkt till mig, och jag svarade: Herre, jag kommer.
9 Göm dig inte för mig, så att jag får svårt att finna dig! Bli inte förargad på mig, och visa inte bort din tjänare. Hittills har du hjälpt mig i alla svårigheter. Lämna mig inte nu! Överge mig inte, min frälsnings Gud.
10 Nej, även om min far och mor skulle överge mig, så tar du hand om mig och tröstar mig!
11 Säg mig vad jag ska göra, Herre, och gör det helt klart för mig, för jag är omgiven av fiender!
12 Låt dem inte få tag på mig, Herre! Låt mig inte falla i deras händer! De anklagar mig ju för sådant som jag aldrig har gjort, och de är alltid så utstuderat grymma.
13 Men jag vet att Herren ska befria mig än en gång, och att jag ska få leva och se hur god han är.
14 Var inte otålig! Vänta på Herren, så ska han komma och rädda dig! Var stark och modig. Sätt ditt hopp till Herren, så ska han hjälpa dig!

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation.
Who is there to fear?
The Lord is my life’s fortress.
Who is there to be afraid of?
2 Evildoers closed in on me to tear me to pieces.
My opponents and enemies stumbled and fell.
3 Even though an army sets up camp against me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even though a war breaks out against me,
I will still have confidence ⌞in the Lord⌟.
4 I have asked one thing from the Lord.
This I will seek:
to remain in the Lord’s house all the days of my life
in order to gaze at the Lord’s beauty
and to search for an answer in his temple.
5 He hides me in his shelter when there is trouble.
He keeps me hidden in his tent.
He sets me high on a rock.
6 Now my head will be raised above my enemies who surround me.
I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy in his tent.
I will sing and make music to praise the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud.
Have pity on me, and answer me.
8 ⌞When you said,⌟
“Seek my face,”
my heart said to you,
“O Lord, I will seek your face.” [a]
9 Do not hide your face from me.
Do not angrily turn me away.
You have been my help.
Do not leave me!
Do not abandon me, O God, my savior!
10 Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will take care of me.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord.
Lead me on a level path
because I have enemies who spy on me.
12 Do not surrender me to the will of my opponents.
False witnesses have risen against me.
They breathe out violence.
13 I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord
in this world of the living.
14 Wait with hope for the Lord.
Be strong, and let your heart be courageous.
Yes, wait with hope for the Lord.

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold(C) of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?(D)
2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.(E)
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;(F)
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.(G)
4 One thing(H) I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,(I)
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble(J)
he will keep me safe(K) in his dwelling;
he will hide me(L) in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.(M)
6 Then my head will be exalted(N)
above the enemies who surround me;(O)
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice(P) with shouts of joy;(Q)
