Tacksamhet för seger över fiender
118 Tacka Herren, för han är god! Hans nåd varar i evighet.
2 Låt Israels folk prisa honom med just de orden: Hans nåd varar i evighet!
3 Låt Arons präster ropa: Hans nåd varar i evighet!
4 Låt de omvända hedningarna jubla: Hans nåd varar i evighet!
5 När jag hade det svårt bad jag till Herren, och han svarade mig och befriade mig.
6 Han står på min sida! Varför skulle jag då vara rädd? Vad kan människor göra mot mig?
7 Herren är på min sida, och han hjälper mig. Låt dem som hatar mig gripas av skräck!
8 Det är bättre att söka Herrens beskydd än att lita på människor.
9 Jag tar hellre min tillflykt till honom än till människor som är mäktiga och inflytelserika.
10 Jag var omringad av fiender, men genom din makt slog jag dem.
11 Ja, jag var omringad på alla sidor, men genom din makt slog jag dem och utplånade dem.
12 De svärmade runt mig som bin, men de slocknade lika fort som en eld bland törnbuskar. Och i Herrens namn utplånade jag dem.
13 De gjorde sitt bästa för att döda mig, men Herren hjälpte mig!
14 Han är min styrka och min sång i stridens hetta, och nu har han låtit mig segra.
15-16 Lyssna till glädjeropen och sången från Guds folk: Herren har med makt utfört sina väldiga gärningar. Han har lyft sin hand till segertecken!
17 Jag behöver inte dö, i stället får jag leva och berätta vad han gjort.
18 Herren har straffat mig hårt, men inte överlämnat mig åt döden.
19 Öppna templets portar för mig! Jag vill gå in genom dem och ge honom mitt tack!
20 Dessa portar är Herrens portar, och endast de som tjänar Herren, får gå in genom dem.
21 Herre, jag tackar dig innerligt för att du har besvarat min bön och räddat mig.
22 Den sten som inte dög åt byggnadsarbetarna har nu blivit en hörnsten.
23 Detta är Herrens verk, det är fantastiskt att få se det med egna ögon.
24 Herren har förberett denna festdag för oss, därför är vi glada och jublar.
25 Herre, hjälp oss och ge oss framgång i allt vad vi gör!
26 Välsignad är den som kommer, den som är sänd av Herren till oss. Vi välsignar er från templet.
27-28 Herren Gud är vårt ljus. Jag bär fram mitt offer på altaret inför honom, för han är min Gud och jag vill tacka och lova honom.

118 Give thanks to Adonai; for he is good,
for his grace continues forever.
2 Now let Isra’el say,
“His grace continues forever.”
3 Now let the house of Aharon say,
“His grace continues forever.”
4 Now let those who fear Adonai say,
“His grace continues forever.”
5 From my being hemmed in I called on Yah;
he answered and gave me more room.
6 With Adonai on my side, I fear nothing —
what can human beings do to me?
7 With Adonai on my side as my help,
I will look with triumph at those who hate me.
8 It is better to take refuge in Adonai
than to trust in human beings;
9 better to take refuge in Adonai
than to put one’s trust in princes.
10 The nations all surrounded me;
in the name of Adonai I cut them down.
11 They surrounded me on every side
in the name of Adonai I cut them down.
12 They surrounded me like bees
but were extinguished [as quickly] as a fire in thorns;
in the name of Adonai I cut them down.
13 You pushed me hard to make me fall,
but Adonai helped me.
14 Yah is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.
15 The sound of rejoicing and victory
is heard in the tents of the righteous:
“Adonai’s right hand struck powerfully!
16 Adonai’s right hand is raised in triumph!
Adonai’s right hand struck powerfully!”
17 I will not die; no, I will live
and proclaim the great deeds of Yah!
18 Yah disciplined me severely,
but did not hand me over to death.
19 Open the gates of righteousness for me;
I will enter them and thank Yah.
20 This is the gate of Adonai;
the righteous can enter it.
21 I am thanking you because you answered me;
you became my salvation.
22 The very rock that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone!
23 This has come from Adonai,
and in our eyes it is amazing.
24 This is the day Adonai has made,
a day for us to rejoice and be glad.
25 Please, Adonai! Save us!
Please, Adonai! Rescue us!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of Adonai.
We bless you from the house of Adonai.
27 Adonai is God, and he gives us light.
Join in the pilgrim festival with branches
all the way to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I thank you.
You are my God; I exalt you.
29 Give thanks to Adonai; for he is good,
for his grace continues forever.

“His love endures forever.”
5 When hard pressed,(H) I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place.(I)
6 The Lord is with me;(J) I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?(K)
7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper.(L)
I look in triumph on my enemies.(M)
8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord(N)
than to trust in humans.(O)
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.(P)
10 All the nations surrounded me,
but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.(Q)
11 They surrounded me(R) on every side,(S)

resound in the tents of the righteous:

the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
17 I will not die(AC) but live,
and will proclaim(AD) what the Lord has done.
18 The Lord has chastened(AE) me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.(AF)
19 Open for me the gates(AG) of the righteous;
I will enter(AH) and give thanks to the Lord.

through which the righteous may enter.(AJ)
