    nu och för evigt.

  1. 113:3 Ordagrant: …från soluppgång till solnedgång, vilket var dåtida sätt att uttrycka öster och väster, som i sin tur betydde hela jorden. Jfr v. 2 där man uppmanas till lovprisning nu och för evigt, alltså ska Herren prisas alltid och överallt. V. 3 kan dock också tolkas som parallell till v. 2 och i så fall syfta på lovprisning från morgon (soluppgång) till kväll (solnedgång), alltså hela dagen.

now and forevermore.

the Lord’s name is deserving of praise.

  1. Psalm 113:3 tn Heb “from the rising of the sun to its setting.” The extent is not temporal (“from sunrise to sunset”) but spatial (“from the place where the sun rises [the east] to the place where it sets [the west].” In the phenomenological language of OT cosmology, the sun was described as rising in the east and setting in the west.
  2. Psalm 113:4 tn Heb “above the sky [is] his splendor.”
