Psalm 99-102

Praise to the Lord for His Faithfulness to Israel.

99 ^(A)The Lord reigns, ^[a]the peoples tremble!
He ^(B)sits enthroned above the cherubim, ^[b]the earth quakes!
²The Lord ^[c]is ^(C)great in Zion,
And He is ^(D)exalted above all the peoples.
³May they praise Your ^(E)great and awesome name;
^(F)Holy is ^[d]He.
⁴The ^[e]strength of the King ^(G)loves ^[f]justice;
You have established ^[g]^(H)order;
You have ^(I)executed ^[h]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
⁵^[i]^(J)Exalt the Lord our God
And ^(K)worship at His footstool;
^(L)Holy is He.

⁶^(M)Moses and Aaron were among His ^(N)priests,
And ^(O)Samuel was among those who ^(P)called on His name;
They ^(Q)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
⁷He ^(R)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They ^(S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
⁸Lord our God, You ^(T)answered them;
You were a ^(U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an ^(V)avenger of their evil deeds.
⁹Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.

A Psalm for ^[j]Thanksgiving.

100 ^(W)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
²^(X)Serve the Lord with jubilation;
^(Y)Come before Him with rejoicing.
³Know that ^(Z)the Lord ^[k]Himself is God;
It is He who has ^(AA)made us, and ^[l]not we ourselves;
We are ^(AB)His people and the sheep of His pasture.

⁴Enter His gates ^(AC)with ^[m]thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.
Give thanks to Him, ^(AD)bless His name.
⁵For ^(AE)the Lord is good;
^(AF)His mercy is everlasting
And His ^(AG)faithfulness is to all generations.

The Psalmist’s Profession of Uprightness.

A Psalm of David.

101 I will ^(AH)sing of mercy and ^[n]justice;
To You, Lord, I will sing praises.
²I will ^(AI)carefully attend to the ^[o]blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the ^[p]^(AJ)integrity of my heart.
³I will set no ^(AK)worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the ^[q]work of those who ^(AL)fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
⁴A ^(AM)perverse heart shall leave me;
I will know no evil.
⁵Whoever secretly ^(AN)slanders his neighbor, him I will ^[r]destroy;
I will not endure one who has a ^(AO)haughty look and an arrogant heart.

⁶My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
One who walks in a ^[s]^(AP)blameless way is one who will serve me.
⁷One who ^(AQ)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
One who speaks lies ^(AR)shall not ^[t]maintain his position before me.
⁸^(AS)Every morning I will ^[u]^(AT)destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to ^(AU)eliminate from the ^(AV)city of the Lord all those who do injustice.

Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and ^[v]pours out his complaint before the Lord.

102 ^(AW)Hear my prayer, Lord!
And let my cry for help ^(AX)come to You.
²^(AY)Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
^(AZ)Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call ^(BA)answer me quickly.
³For my days ^(BB)have ended in smoke,
And my ^(BC)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
⁴My heart ^(BD)has been struck like ^[w]grass and has ^(BE)withered,
Indeed, I ^(BF)forget to eat my bread.
⁵Because of the ^[x]loudness of my groaning
My ^(BG)bones ^[y]cling to my flesh.
⁶I resemble a ^(BH)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
⁷I ^(BI)lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

⁸My enemies ^(BJ)have taunted me all day long;
Those who ^[z]^(BK)deride me ^[aa]have used my name as a ^(BL)curse.
⁹For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And ^(BM)mixed my drink with weeping
¹⁰^(BN)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have ^(BO)lifted me up and thrown me away.
¹¹My days are like a ^[ab]^(BP)lengthened shadow,
And ^[ac]I ^(BQ)wither away like ^[ad]grass.

¹²But You, Lord, ^[ae]^(BR)remain forever,
And Your ^[af]^(BS)name remains to all generations.
¹³You will ^(BT)arise and have ^(BU)compassion on Zion;
For ^(BV)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the ^(BW)appointed time has come.
¹⁴Surely Your servants ^[ag]take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
¹⁵^[ah]So the ^[ai]^(BX)nations will fear the name of the Lord,
And ^(BY)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
¹⁶For the Lord has ^(BZ)built up Zion;
He has ^(CA)appeared in His glory.
¹⁷He has ^(CB)turned His attention to the prayer of the ^[aj]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

¹⁸^[ak]This will be ^(CC)written for the ^(CD)generation to come,
^[al]That ^(CE)a people yet to be created ^[am]may praise ^[an]the Lord:
¹⁹For He ^(CF)looked down from His holy height;
^(CG)From heaven the Lord looked ^[ao]upon the earth,
²⁰To hear the ^(CH)groaning of the prisoner,
To ^(CI)set free ^[ap]those who were doomed to death,
²¹So that people may ^(CJ)tell of the name of the Lord in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
²²When ^(CK)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

²³He has broken my strength in the way;
He has ^(CL)shortened my days.
²⁴I say, “My God, ^(CM)do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your ^(CN)years are ^[aq]throughout all generations.
²⁵In time of old You ^(CO)founded the earth,
And the ^(CP)heavens are the work of Your hands.
²⁶^[ar]Even they will ^(CQ)perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.
²⁷But You are ^[as]^(CR)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
²⁸The ^(CS)children of Your servants will continue,
And their ^[at]^(CT)descendants will be established before You.”
